At first glance, the potential for LA Cops to be an interesting title is great. A top-down shooter in the style of a retro cop squad drama, its main appeal lies in the combination of real-time action with teamwork management, one player using two characters to systematically take down a criminal enterprise. It's just too bad that one of those cops always has to be Barney Fife.

There is something charming about bad horror movies. From the overused tropes to the laughable gore effects, they are hard to take seriously. Lakeview Cabin seems to get that, and is celebrating the stupidity with its episod...

I do not mean to suggest that Diablo is not good, but the dreary look never really grabbed me, even with Diablo III's improvements in that respect. Laser Fury, on the other hand, takes a hold of my eyes immediately...

Max sat down with Sam Farmer, the creator of Last Life. Being developed in association with Double Fine, Last Life is a point-and-click adventure game set in a cyber-noir future, where death doesn't always mean the end. Check out the Kickstarter for this game here.

The Ludum Dare game jam series has been going on for a while now, with its 28th iteration coming up next month. Ludum Dare 26's theme was "minimalism," and one of the titles to come out of that event was Leaf Me Alone, a 2D e...

You have to hand it to Benjamin "Komag" Ramsey and the rest of the hardworking individuals on his team. They put a lot of effort and passion into Legend of Grimrock - Master Quest, and the result is a full-length rework of th...

The first Legend of Grimrock was damn near perfect. Coming seemingly out of nowhere, it put a fresh new face on the dungeon-crawling genre. It was a game that didn't forget its roots yet also didn't forget that we live in a different time. It's no surprise, then, that the sequel is absolutely stunning.

I really love role-playing games, and I will usually put up with some flaws if the overall experience is interesting. A bad game can have a couple of good mechanics, and I will probably play it longer than I should. When I st...

I absolutely love it when games add crazy things that are completely unnecessary and utterly amusing. Paradox have decided to add a "Jazz Mode" to Leviathan: Warships, a game that doesn't actually have anything to do with ja...

In most games, as in the real world, death is something to be avoided. Often it is a learning experience, but that is used to teach how not to die next time. In Life Goes On, the gameplay centers on death, but its approach is...

Videogame genres carry a lot of baggage and not all of it positive. Adventure games have long been praised for their humorous stories and memorable characters but they're just as maligned for their obtuse puzzles and head-scr...
