VA-11 HALL-A

12-05-2014

I love Catherine. Part of the reason is its block puzzles. Part of the reason is its small scale, with most playable segments taking place in the homey bar Stray Sheep. VA-11 HALL-A--or Valhalla--is that same sort of ba...

Vagante

01-18-2015

When we last reported on Nuke Nine's retro-inspired action platformer Vagante, the title was campaigning for funding on Kickstarter. After unfortunately falling short of its funding goal the developers have brought...

Valdis Story: Abysal City

05-02-2013

It's hard to keep track of all the Kickstarters out there, but I regret not reporting on Valdis Story: Abyssal City because it's shaping up nicely. A year after Kickstarter funding ended, we now have more footage of the Metr...

Valdis Story: Abyssal City

01-02-2014

I played just about every major release under the sun in 2013 -- but naturally, some of the smaller titles escaped me. Interested in seeing what I may have missed, I shared my total "games played" list the other day, and was met with a pretty interesting inquiry from a reader, simply stating, "No Valdis Story?" I'm really glad they brought it to my attention.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

06-25-2014

Valiant Hearts: The Great War was a wonderful experience that came out not too long ago on consoles and PC. And now it's set to arrive on iOS devices on September 4. Same game, just controls redesigned with touch screen in mind. No price point was given, but now you will have no excuse to miss this one.

Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines

02-11-2012

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is one my favorite games of all time. It received mixed critical responses, was buggy as hell when it came out, and probably could have used at least another year of development time....

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

07-15-2011

Some games never die because of the love fans have for them, and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is one of those games. A new fan patch -- apparently from a series of "proper" ones -- was released this week, bring it to ...

Vane

09-25-2014

Hearing that Friend & Foe was made up of some former The Last Guardian developers got me to take a look at Vane, but I stayed for the .gifs and never wanted to leave -- they're mesmerizing! Here's some Tokyo Game Show f...

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

08-15-2012

I must confess that I didn't even know Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was still a thing. I haven't seen hide nor hair of it in years; it seemed to just slink away after it was released. I recall almost picking it up a long time ago...

Vaporum

02-24-2015

If you think that “steampunk dungeon crawler” sounds like Occam’s panty/brief-dropping sludge rock jug band, you would of course be correct. It also happens to be the genre type of FatBot Studio’s pro...

06-29-2013

Steam is bringing some new contenders to the market through its Greenlight service this week. This batch of titles is a very eclectic offering; a little something for everyone, from the casual player to the adventure game fan...

Velocity 2X

02-25-2015

We didn't review Velocity 2X for PlayStation 4 or PS Vita, but Hamza did talk about how this half vertical spaceship shooter, half side-scrolling platformer was going to "melt [our] eyeballs." Hah, that Destructoid dot com --...

Verminian Trap

09-12-2013

It doesn't have the same scope as Maldita Castilla or Hydorah -- two remarkable titles that are inexplicably free to download -- but the latest freeware release from Locomalito is worth checking out for fans of no-nonsense a...

Vertical Drop Heroes

05-05-2014

Vertical Drop Heroes is shaping up to look like quite the enticing indie release, and the promise of a procedural generated platforming RPG has me intrigued. A new trailer has been released in celebration of a full rele...

Vertico

05-07-2014

The Ludum Dare 29 game jam is currently in the voting phase, with the theme "beneath the surface." Developer Sebastian Janisz of Ultimate Walrus took the theme to a decidedly less mental place than some of his past creations...

Vertiginous Golf

04-15-2015

What happens when you get the developers of those old Nabisco mini-golf Flash games and have them make a new type of mini-golf title? Well evidently, you get something completely off-the-wall and bizarre, which feels more lik...

Victoria II: Heart of Darkness

05-10-2013

To call Victoria II dense would be a gross understatement. It's a pound cake, with each ingredient -- the tangled politics, vast wars, and simulated economies -- adding greater depth and increasingly complex, interweaving sys...
