Pokémon Rumble World

04-07-2015

I wrote a thing about The Last of Us last week, and despite the use of measured language, there were accusations of extreme opinions on either side. Come on, people. That is not very zen. Find your nirvana. In this series, w...

Etrian Mystery Dungeon

04-06-2015

Poor European Atlus fans... They're always so upset. I wish I could brighten their day somehow. Oh, hey, what's this? A press release from NIS... Four Atlus titles coming to Europe? Hot damn! Apparently Shin Megami ...

Fossil Fighters: Frontier

03-24-2015

I used to love dinosaurs. Growing up I watched The Land Before Time nearly daily, and I really wanted to be a paleontologist just like Alan Grant. If there was a video game with dinosaurs in it, I experienced it it,...

03-11-2015

Intelligent Systems has addressed one of the biggest complaints about its turn-based strategy title Code Name S.T.E.A.M. with a time-saving update available now on the 3DS eShop. Now that there's a fast-forward button to spee...

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars

03-04-2015

A little more than four years ago, Nintendo released Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! on the original DS. It continued the series' focus on the miniature Mario robots, to the chagrin of fans of the platforming in the ...

IronFall: Invasion

02-27-2015

Developing a Gears of War-like cover shooter for Nintendo 3DS is unconventional, but that's just what VD-Dev did with Ironfall: Invasion. Featuring both local and online multiplayer, as well as an 11-stage campaign, the project seems fairly ambitious for the handheld, and as you'd expect, there are mixed results. While multiplayer turned out well enough, the campaign is a mess.

Pokemon Shuffle

02-19-2015

When you're allowed to play it, Pokémon Shuffle is pretty fun. The new Safari event is a good excuse to boot it up as well -- then promptly turn the game back off after your hearts wear off in a minute or so. Whil...

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+

02-16-2015

Japanese publishers have some truly confusing localization titles sometimes. In 2011, Namco Bandai released Ace Combat: Assault Horizon for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It was a grittier take on the franchise that added real-wo...

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D

02-13-2015

It doesn’t seem too long ago that Nintendo were struggling. With the slow sales of the Wii U that hit profits back in 2013 and the dwinding 3DS user base in 2014, It looked like the little (pfffft) company that could un...

Gunman Clive 2

01-30-2015

The first two Gunman Clive games were pretty fantastic little platformers, and the low pricepoint made the deal even sweeter. It's hard to believe that the series was born from the mind of one developer, Bertil Horberg, and a...

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

12-27-2014

The visual novel has been ubiquitous in Japan since the early ‘90s, but in the West they've never truly caught on. Whether it was the U.S.’s love for its own home-grown adventure games like Sierra’s King&rs...

Xeodrifter

12-25-2014

Xeodrifter is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Vita this spring, Renegade Kid announced today. The minimalist "Metroidvania" launched on 3DS and PC late last year, earning high marks from our own Jonathan Holmes, who said it might be the Mutant Mudds developer's "best game yet." The studio also just put out a special edition on Steam, which features a dev diary and soundtrack. Xeodrifter [Steam]

Persona Q: Shadow of Labyrinth

11-24-2014

Kyle would've written this post about the awesome limited-edition Persona Q 3DS XL but didn't want to quote his own review of the game, so here we are. The GameStop-exclusive system is available as of today in the United Stat...

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

11-24-2014

While the story eventually normalizes with both groups, you have somewhat of a difficult decision at the start of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Do you go with the Persona 3 crew, or the gang from Persona 4? I know a few...

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal

11-21-2014

While Sonic Boom on the Wii U has its issues, there are also some redeeming qualities. Co-op is enjoyable, the platforming is pretty fun, and the 2D sections aren't bad. With a few more months in the oven and more polish, it could have ultimately been a decent Sonic title. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the 3DS version of Sonic Boom. There's almost nothing redeeming about it.

Woah Dave!

We heard about April's PlayStation Plus games earlier this week but here's another late addition: Woah Dave! from Choice Provisions. The penny-collecting, alien-dodging, egg-throwing arcade game was free for subscribers back ...

Fantasy Life

10-24-2014

It's a dreadful time to be a Level-5 fan. Or maybe a great one. Dunno. I suppose that all depends on where you exist on this Venn diagram: Level-5 announced Fantasy Life 2 for smartphones today, which probably disp...

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

10-23-2014

The long awaited Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is finally about to hit the Wii U. The game has been out on the 3DS for a little while now, but I've been holding out for the home console version. Wii U-specific features like...

Tappingo 2

10-03-2014

As someone who has gone through several Picross apps on his iPhone, I was excited to hear about Tappingo 2, a puzzler for the 3DS in the same vein. Maybe this would be the perfect game for my long train rides.

Super Smash Bros.

10-02-2014

Mewtwo's new incarnation in Super Smash Bros. might be on the juice, but he severely lacks one major feature -- custom moves. For whatever reason they are not included at the launch of the character, and Nintendo has be...

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call

09-11-2014

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call was a joy to play. It was absolutely packed with content, so the fact that DLC has been steadily dropping since launch hasn't bothered me -- all in all, it's one of the biggest rhythm ...
