Electronic Arts has added The Sims 4 to its Origin Game Time program, which offers a trial period on some major releases in the Origin library. Players can install The Sims 4 now through Origin and play free for 48 hours, starting from the first time the game is launched. Progress made during the trial period is saved and players can pick up right where they left off if they decide to buy the game.
I like Game Time, conceptually. I rarely participate in "free weekend" events for games, the game offered generally being something I'm not interested in or wouldn't have time for that particular weekend. The freedom to pick when I want to sit down and make a purchasing assessment is a feature I appreciate.
The offerings are still a bit anemic since launching the program last year. The Sims 4 is one of only four titles available for Game Time play, along with Titanfall, Battlefield 4, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. All are large, complex games that benefit from being experienced in full (as opposed to a content-limited demo), and that's great. But where is the EA Sports line?
How is it that Kingdoms of Amalur makes it into this program and FIFA 15 doesn't? I don't understand.read more
