MANOS: The Hands of Fate

Do you remember the hit 1966 film Manos: The Hands of Fate? No? The movie was made because of a bet by Harold P. Warren, a guy who sold fertiliser and had no prior film-making experience, on a budget of only $19,000. Unbelievably, the film absolutely tanked, and is currently sitting at a 1.9/10 score on IMDB.

Well this jewel from the history of cinema, fifty years after it released, has finally got a game adaptation coming out on Steam today. MANOS: Director’s Cut is a reworked version of FreakZone Games’ earlier mobile version.  

It’s a retro-platformer that follows the entire story of Warren’s magnum opus, and there’s a “PLAY AS TORGO” mode… which I’m not quite sure what that means, but it’s a thing. And I imagine it involves the creepy farmer dude.

At least we know the plot will be wank before we even start it. There's screenshots below, should you want to take a gander.

Disclosure: I’ve been given a code for the game by the developer, however there was no expectation for me to give it any coverage. It appeared out of the blue. I just think it's neat that a fifty-year-old film is getting a weird ass game tie-in.
