Final Fantasy VII for iOS is a pretty fantastic port

Bring a controller
Aug 26
Final Fantasy VII hit iOS last week with a $15.99 price tag, which left a number of people skeptical as to how much work was put into it. After playing it however, I have to say that most of my fears were put to rest. By...

So people are really into this Final Fantasy VII remake

A casual look at some numbers
Jun 29
I was rooting around YouTubes as one does when a number of (hah) zeros caught my eye: 10,018,000. That was the view count on the PlayStation upload of the Final Fantasy VII remake announcement trailer (there's an additional m...

Surprise! Nomura didn't know he was directing Final Fantasy VII remake

Who's on first?
Jun 26
But if I'm here...and you're here...who's driving the boat?! Tetsuya Nomura is directing the Final Fantasy VII remake, and he's already talked about ways in which it will differ from the 1997 original aside from just the visu...

Final Fantasy VII remake: No new characters, more realistic gameplay

Jun 23
First, I'd like to know if "there won’t be new characters" includes previously invented Final Fantasy VII characters, say from Advent Children, or if it means no new characters added relative to the original Final Fanta...

Final Fantasy VII remake will have new story bits, updated gameplay

'Not a simple remake'
Jun 17
Zack Furniss couldn't pull much about Final Fantasy VII when he interviewed Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura (in what was a Kingdom Hearts 3 focused meeting), but crumbs of not at all unexpected news about the for-real Fina...

Wow! Final Fantasy VII gets PS4 remake as Hell freezes over

It's actually happening!
Jun 15
Wow. When a release exists so far in the realm of improbability that it becomes a joke -- like The Last Guardian or Agent or Half-Life 3 -- and then, bam, E3 gets a damn car battery to the gonads as one of these things actua...

Multiple sources say a proper Final Fantasy VII remake is coming for PS4

To be revealed tonight
Jun 15
If Sony reveals a real Final Fantasy VII remake tonight for the PS4, and not that "classic FFVII" troll release from last year, people will lose it. That might just happen, according to multiple sources. This m...

This week's episode a little late, courtesy of PAX East. I'll make it up to you, I promise. Last week D. Takeshi Nakamura had a little accident, inserting a line with a deplorable six syllables in it, which some keeping trac...

Final Fantasy VII PS4 will cost more than the recent PC port

Dec 11
Last weekend, Square Enix screwed with its fans with too much pomp around announcing a PS4 release of the original Final Fantasy VII, seemingly a port of last year's PC release. You can get last year's PC release for $12 on Steam, but when Final Fantasy VII comes to PS4 in spring of 2015, it will be $16. I guess that's $4 for "system-exclusive features." The Share button, maybe?

Two years worth of work went into this Final Fantasy VII recreation in LittleBigPlanet

You can hear the cry of the LittleBigPlanet
Nov 18
I love Final Fantasy VII as much as the next guy, unless the next guy is Jamie Colliver. More than two years ago we featured his work in LittleBigPlanet 2 as he had remade Final Fantasy VII up through the Temple of the Ancie...

Final Fantasy dance choreography is the best thing

Bustin' a move to Final Fantasy VII and Lightning Returns
Jun 29
No weak Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo jokes here. This is seriously cool. Dance choreographers Mike Song and Tony Tran whipped up a video in honor of Final Fantasy, dancing to tunes from FFVII and the upcoming Lightning Retu...

Cloud's Buster Sword weighs 80 pounds in real life

Final Fantasy VII's crazy thick blade
May 21
It's another videogame-themed episode of Man at Arms. This time, he recreated Cloud's Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII. I love this show so much. A master blacksmith recreates videogame weapons and then goes around smashing a bunch of stuff. I love it!

It seems that the PC re-release of Final Fantasy VII slipped out early on the Square Enix website over the weekend. It has since been pulled, but it looks like it did go up for sale, priced at about $12. From accounts of the ...

Final Fantasy VII is not overrated

Final Fantasy VII is, without a doubt, the most influential and well known game in the Final Fantasy series. It's hardly surprising, then, that there's an army of detractors who have set out to diminish it. After al...
