Dying Light's new DLC is called The Bozak Horde

Gee, I really wonder what it could be
May 15

I’m going to play a little game with you called "guess the DLC". Dying Light is an open-world, cooperative zombie game with a heavy emphasis on parkour and violently slaughtering zombies in as many different ways as yo...

Dying Light shambles toward top of Japanese sales charts

Only one game could fight off the zombies
Apr 22

Dying Light doesn't seem to have any intention of dying anytime soon. Three months after its initial release, it's maintained popularity through support of modders, new game modes, and wacky gags. Despite being widely av...

Dying Light enabling wacky ragdoll physics for April Fools' Day

Keep this going for more than a day, please
Mar 31

For April Fools' Day tomorrow, Techland is bringing extra floaty physics to its open-world zombie-slaying game Dying Light, which has me wondering, why isn't that a permanent cheat code? This is the sort of thing, weird and ...

Dying Light just made surviving the zombie apocalypse a whole lot tougher

Oh, great
Mar 11

When it comes to zombie outbreaks, it'd be foolish to go looking for a challenge. The easier you have it, the better. Why make a mockery of fate and scream "Come at me, bro?" It may be ill-advised, but Techland's giving thos...

For free!
Feb 11

If you're finding Dying Light to be a bit too much on the easy side, then Techland has heard your zombie screams and announced that they plan on releasing a free content update that will add Hard Mode. We weren't given an exa...

Dying Light includes a strange recreation of World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros.

There is no princess in this castle

Dying Light is making plenty of headlines, and not only for its unique brand of survival horror. There's also a host of interesting Easter eggs that can be found within the game if you take the time out to find them. While t...

You can beat Dying Light with no weapons, just punches and dropkicks

And with some patience
Feb 04

Not long removed from Dying Light's recent release, one boy decided to play through the entire game engaging only its best elements. That is, running around and drop kicking fools. It's dubbed the Jean Claude Van Damme run and its the only correct way to play a game that has drop kicks.  More games need drop kicks.

Techland using DMCA claims to take down Dying Light mods (Update)

Sorry, no nude zombies
Feb 01

[Update: Techland says it did not intend to create "obstacles" for modders. "With the recent patch (1.2.1) on Steam we blocked cheating to make sure the game's PvP system (Be The Zombie) would not be abused. This, however, ha...

Dying Light riffs on Destiny's loot cave

We hardly knew ye
Jan 28

Destiny players have gone four months now without the comforting tedium of the loot cave -- a dark abyss that would yield decent gear drops in return for shooting at it for hours on end. Understandably, Bungie said that'...

Review: Dying Light

Dead Island with fewer rappers and more polish
Jan 28

As you may have heard, we got our Dying Light review code pretty late. As in, the day before launch. A late show doesn't necessarily instill confidence in a project, especially since a lot of fans had no idea what to expect from Techland's latest. It's strange that this situation even happened considering Dying Light is one of Techland's best games outside of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

'I love this game. It's sooo awesome!'

A dying light...
Jan 27

Techland did its best to hold off on handing out Dying Light review codes until the day before release. That's never good. But Techland doesn't need to cherry pick reviews for box quotes when it can pay for them. No, this is the future. And the future is sooo awesome!

All the deals for this week's Dying Light (up to 25% off)

Jan 26

Releasing tomorrow (and the day after that on consoles in Europe), Dying Light is Techland's latest foray into the totally lacking field of zombie games. We're listing all the deals we've found thus far, including some for th...

We may not have Dying Light yet, but you can have a Dying Light trailer

Maybe we'll review this trailer
Jan 26

Chris already briefed you on the Dying Light review situation. It's grim, bleak, and kind of desperate -- a lot like a real zombie apocalypse, I guess. Good job, Techland; you've achieved perfect thematic #synergy. Even thou...

Where is our Dying Light review?

Jan 26

Dying Light comes out tomorrow. So, where is our review? Well, we don't have a code yet. Neither do a lot of other outlets. In fact, many reviewers just got their codes today, so if you see reviews out tomorrow, it'...

Do you trust Techland to make a good game?

So about that Dying Light
Jan 06

Dead Island was a massive hit for Techland, due in part to the massively misleading trailer for the game. Having played through it with a co-op partner, I found some enjoyment out of it by way of the multiplayer element, but ...

Dying Light's asymmetric multiplayer has a gross catch

Pre-order to play

Techland's Dying Light is just the latest game to include asymmetric multiplayer into its fold. Seems like everyone's doing it these days; it's been all the rage since Left 4 Dead did it all those years ago. B...

Dying Light has a sweet slide move

Developer diary focuses on movement
Aug 29

So I still need to actually play Vanquish in full, but that rocket knee slide? Good stuff. Dying Light's slide is not so cool, but with enough forward momentum, you could get a decent slide going.  I am only still ...

Dying Light's gamescom trailer is all about hunting and hiding

Good things don't happen at night
Aug 08

As I wrote about at E3, there's a lot that you can do in Techland's Dying Light. First and foremost, you can run, jump, and grapple your way across terrain at a breakneck speed. You can take a break from traversal and use yo...

Dying Light is less about zombies and more about movement

Go somewhere, anywhere
Jun 23

What can be done freshen up the zombie genre at this point? Videogames, television shows, movies, comics -- virtually every pop culture medium's been infested by the craze, long ago hitting a saturation (and then oversaturati...

Techland: We didn't want Dying Light to be Dead Island 2

Studio doesn't think of Dying Light as a zombie game
Jun 12

Ever since Techland's Dying Light was announced, it's drawn comparisons to Dead Island -- the studio's previous title. It's easy to see how many would come to that quick conclusion with it being an open-wo...

Dying Light wants to make a murderer out of you

Murder or be murdered
Jun 04

Everything that we've seen of Dying Light thus far has looked neat, but kind of devoid of personality. It's just seemed like another zombie game with attractive running mechanics. This trailer bucks that trend and adds a bit of charisma. It also adds blood. Lots and lots of blood -- especially after the sun goes down.

Delayed to make improvements
May 08

Dying Light was originally going to be released this year, but developer Techland just announced they have to delay the release until February 2015. Techland has stated that the delay is due to them improving the traversal sy...

When it gets dark, Dying Light will freak you out

Day and night!
Dec 17

Daytime? Nice, warm rays of orange sunshine as if you were perpetually awaking from a refreshing cat nap? Sure, whatever. Drop kick zombies freely, like you're Faith from Mirror's Edge. Even zombies look a bit silly and list...

Enjoy six minutes of Dying Light gameplay from VGX

It's zombies meets parkour meets sledghammers

Look, it may seem derisive to describe Dying Light as just "Dead Island + parkour" but dang if that ain't what it looks like. In this six-minute video you'll see some light traversal and some heavy-duty zombie bashing using ...

This Dying Light trailer shows some vibrant light

That's kind of ironic, I guess
Nov 18

Techland has something it wants to show you. It's been working super hard to make sure you're impressed by the lighting effects in Dying Light. You gotta throw all these next-gen resources at something, after all. So, take a...

Dying Light is surprisingly fun, and pretty damn intense

It will make your heart race
Sep 04

Spencer Hayes and I got some quality time with Techland's Dying Light and we both came away pretty surprised from the experience. The game features a day and night cycle, and the day time stuff we played was pretty average. ...

This gameplay video shows what Dying Light's all about

Spoiler alert: It's all about zombies
Aug 15

A 12-minute gameplay video of Techland's Dying Light has surfaced, and it seems like "Fight or Flight" may have also been an appropriate title for the game. The free-running mechanics are on full display, and it looks f...

Dying Light feels, well, a lot like Dead Island

For better and for worse
Jun 13

Despite it's oversaturation years ago, apparently zombie culture isn't going to die down any time soon. A steady stream of zombie-centric media is constantly flowing, and Techland is more than willing to take advantage of th...

The obligatory CGI trailer for Techland's Dying Light

Zombie parkour
Jun 07

In typical Techland fashion, our first look at Dying Light in motion stems from a CGI trailer. I'm hopeful this is a good indication of the general vibe the studio is going for with its freerunning-centric zombie survival ti...

Dying Light is an open world, freerunning zombie game

From the makers of Dead Island
May 23

Okay, take Dead Island's entire concept, subtract the role-playing mechanics, throw in freerunning features akin to Mirror's Edge, and set it all in an open world that features a day-and-night cycle where things become way ha...
