In a continual baby step effort toward mainstream attention, and ultimately success, pro gaming plops into the major network light today when CBS airs today at 3 p.m. Eastern the Video Game Super Stars program. The show will feature players of the World Series of Video Games and of course Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. Here are the deets:
Video Game Super Stars, presented by Intel reveals the compelling personal stories of five rising stars of the competitive video gaming world. Filmed during the World Series of Video Games Finals and on location from the gamers’ hometowns, the program focuses on Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, the world champion gamer who has become the “Michael Jordan” of the sport; Rafik “LoSt-CaUzE” Bryant, who uses his renown as a top gamer to help advance efforts in global philanthropy; David “Moto” Geffon, whose decision to go pro bucked the tradition of his family of lawyers; Shannon “Mary Jane” Ridge, the minister’s daughter who is now a Halo run-and-gunner; and Matt “Ballistics” Powers whose prowess at “Ghost Recon” is honed as a Sergeant at maximum security prison Pelican Bay and tempered as a father of two.
The program airs at 3pm ET, 2pm CT, 1pm MT, 12pm PT (check local listings) on Saturday Saturday, December 30th. It is sponsored by Intel, Xbox 360, Fatal1ty Brands and ATI.
Annoyingly bad title and all, it's a very positive direction for video games. Will you be tuning in?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
gaming is fun with me and my friends and talking about it with other gamers. but watching other people play is only fun when you know that you're next!
But watching a serious game event like it is sports or something, nah rather not
he claims he's a good street fighter player. Get some cred Wendal!
and it would be much cooler if they expand the game selection for the tourney. including some super smash bros melee or something..because watching someone play an fps is as boring as watching paint dry.and id rather watch paint dry over an fps.
As someone who was once heavily involved with competitive gaming, that show was a travesty.
I also can not even tolerate Fatal1ty, first all I hear is that he's an arrogant prick, and for christ sake he looks like Haley Joel Osment... So, fuck that guy, and Haley Joel Osment.
