Prizes coming to 1 vs. 100 Live this week photo

The voice of 1 vs. 100 Live dropped a bombshell Friday evening. Starting July 10th, Microsoft will begin dishing out “skill-based prizes” to players in “the mob” and possibly the person wearing “the one” pants. The latter we’re not too sure about --host Chris Cashman wasn’t exactly clear with his announcement.

Despite prizes being given away, 1 vs. 100 Live will stay in beta. We’re guessing Microsoft and the folks behind the first Primetime title need to iron out some kinks.

In addition to “the one” drama, we’re not exactly sure about what the “skill-based prizes” will be. The show is built around giving away Microsoft Points and Xbox LIVE Arcade games, so we wouldn’t be surprised if that was confirmed today.

Now that loot can be obtained, how many of you plan to play this week?

A friend of mine invited me to play the other day, but as I was working through Fallout 3's Point Lookout, I declined. Do you need to be invited to play it, or can we find it on Live? Haven't really been keeping an eye on this one.

"Skill based" is most likely the Top 3 mobers in each round, which they already show at the end.

We in Europe are getting the beta on 10th July. I can't wait to see if my trivia-sharpened brain can rack up any points or games. :OD

Still no point...If you've read the rules on xbox.com chances of being in the mob are based on how often you play and how good you are.

I've played 1 vs. 100 maybe 3 or 4 times. I'll never have the opportunity to be in the mob or the one.

I have been a little hesitant to check this out, after hearing that most of the time spent consists of waiting around to be picked for the mob or whatever. Is there any truth to this?

I'm always up for free stuff, but I usually like to spend my gaming time...actually playing games.

@JamnOnTheOne- I've played it maybe an average of twice a week, and never for too long and I've been in the mob twice already. I don't think it's weighted too terribly. Plus I remember reading that while it keeps a running tally of how "good" you are for every time you play, it only takes into consideration the last week when calculating odds of being the one/in the mob.

@Char- You play while you wait, you just can't win anything.

Oh yeah, I want to point out how this beta is a good example of how the 360 dashboard can be a confusing place. I've told several people to check out 1v100 only to hear "I looked in the marketplace and couldn't find it"

You have to go to events to find it. If you go on an off time, all it will let you do is "set reminder" which actually downloads the beta client to your xbox so you'll be ready to play.

I recommend making a point to play during the Live game so you get a feel for the actual game, then move on to extended play sessions for more.

I thought he said that the "skill-based prizes" were awarded to the top 3 players each round, even if they were in the crowd.

I'd prefer it, if we poor Germans would finally get to play the game.
