Prison Break star appearing in BioShock film? photo

Actor Wentworth Miller, best known for his role as that guy who speaks really softly on Prison Break, updated his Twitter last night and told his followers that he's working on the BioShock movie:

Prison Break may be ending, but I've got things in the works. Hint...one word: Bioshock.

Last we heard, the BioShock film was put on hold due to huge budget costs. So does this mean the movie is still in the works? Possibly. Gore Verbinski passed on the opportunity to work on the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film and you just know that film is going to be a guaranteed cash cow at the box office. I can't see Gore giving up so easily on the BioShock film.

I would ask you all for your thoughts on the BioShock movie, but I pretty much know that most gamers are completely against the idea of a movie version of such a beloved game. So instead, what's your favorite flavor of Otter Pop?

[Update: As some of you pointed out, Wentworth could very well be doing voice work on BioShock 2. Whatever the case, I'm sure Wentworth will do an outstanding job at talking really quietly.]

He just said Bioshock. Isn't it possible that he will instead be doing voice work on Bioshock 2?

I'd hope it's just voice work, I'm horrified at the thought of the Bioshock movie really coming out. The worst part is that the Pirates of the Caribbean guy might be working on it, sorry but I think Bioshock is a bit deeper and more intelligent than that increadibly stupid 3rd film.

If only it won't stray too far from the original - I don't mind.

No one will sell tickets on gun point. If it sucks, I just won't go.

Headlines kind of deceptive. If I said "One word - chocolate" it wouldn't be good journalism to assume that I'll be in chocolate from now on. He could be playing Bioshock. He could be a voice in Bioshock. He could be an actor in Bioshock. He could be talking about a new sexual move called The Bioshock. All of these are valid possibilities.

No, games like these run off the motion of a nameless protagonist. It makes the character seem like a blank canvas that the player can paint their own attitude on. Bioshock used this to deepen the sense of morality. It would be like making half life a thrid person shooter, with crappy voice work starring Vin Diessel. It just wouldn't work. Maybe, just maybe it might work if the camera was straped to his face and we just saw his hands and that tattoo, but having him throwing crappy one liners about the place while frowing fireballs just won't work.

I welcome a Bioshock movie. I'm sure it could never touch the originality and creativity of the source material, but the release of a movie doesn't affect my experience of the game at all. There is always something to take away from a game-to-movie crossover, even if it's just seeing how the writers and director interpreted the game.

A movie trying to recreate the exact story of the game would be probably terrible, and if they even think about trying to make their own original story without following the details of the game world like most video game movies do, then it would definitely be terrible. The only way I can see a great Bioshock movie would be if they just simply told the story of Andrew Ryan and his followers and how they were driven to create Rapture.

Actually, of all the game properties that could potentially be turned into movies, I think Bioshock could very well be decent.
We'll see of course, but it sounds a lot better than a Castlevania or Shadow of the Colossus movie.

Seeing as Wentworth has done previous voice actor work in Stealth, the fact that he's now free post Prison Break, and Bioshock 2 is due in October, I think he'll have a voice part in Bioshock 2.

Sure, if not I'd love to see him in a Bioshock film. And while many gamers fear such a film, I think it could be the best thing, the kind of film that can cross bounderies, for sci fi fans, gamers and neutrals. Open your mind, people. Game to films adaptions are getting better.

I really don't care who voice acts in the game, as long as it's good and the characters are great.

I don't see any reason to be upset, in all actuality bioshock presented awesome atmosphere, great settings and some really cool characters, but in the end the story was: man crashlands, man gets powers, man kills lots of freaky bunnymen man finds out it was all a lie, man kills bad guy, man plays with little girls- so they have a lot of room to work with if they make a movie
