If you're itching for information on the new Prince of Persia title, then the second "speed art" trailer might keep you satisfied until the Ubidays event next week. J-C Guyot, creative lead for the new title, introduces Elika, the Prince's new sidekick. He says that she will be helpful in every facet of the game -- from combat to puzzle solving to narrative development. I have to say, I'm really impressed with Elika's character design.
Speaking of design, some new screenshots from the game have come to light, and I'll be damned if I'm not really impressed with those, too. The cel-shading from these screens looks gorgeous. The character design and the cel-shading look like they would easily lend themselves to tight, fluid animation. Ubisoft aren't slackers when it comes to graphics, and I'm anxious to see Elika and the Prince in action.
On a personal note, as my family is French, hearing Guyot's rad accent was like a little taste of home. Fortunately, I'm exempt from the deadly sway that French accents seem to hold over Americans of all ages and genders. It's just kind of hard to get lost in a dreamy voice that sounds like my dad's.
Joseph Leray is a founding Destructoid editor and has better hair than you. He speaks French and needs to send us his updated bio in English, preferably.

I really like how much detail they bringing to this new entry.
Plus a bit of Yoji Shinkawa's art style is definitely noticed here.
Soft, yet rouge textures that give each artwork piece more life.
Hope that this new ally will be more promising than others.
@Cowzilla3 If my memory serves, the princess in the Sands of Time was both useful and awesome. She would occasionally hit you with her arrows with no more than a "sorry!"
I'm so fucking glad that they finally got the idea that real and gritty wasn't a "style" so instead of using the new available power to make it look more true to life they're adding an artistic and unique flair to the overall look
It's easy on the eyes, hopefully the game play will be fun as well ;)
Hey, I'm going to be in France during UbiDays. Can I go to the Lourve and see it?
Also, Orcist, is there anything particular I should see in France? Anything videogame related that might be hard to find in America?
So far, I'm going to Valence, driving across France, seeing Las Caux, Roman ruins, river rafting down a canyon. Three weeks of camping with two ladies. Sound any good?
I love that the style of the games comes across as being sketched or drawn with pencils. It just looks amazing and its already very high on my DO WANT list... right next to Darksiders and Rise of the Argonauts.
I am already loving the art direction for this game, and this new character artwork looks fantastic. I’m so glad that they seem to have completely ditched the badassery of past Prince of Persia games — let’s just pray that Godsmack stays the hell out of this game.
I too immediately thought of Metal Gear art by Yoji Shinkawa. I've never seen that style of character design outside of that series. Its nice to see someone else using it to great success. Very impressive screen shots.
My interest in the series died after I played Warrior Within (what were they thinking?!) but this looks to bring me back in to the fold real quick.
Also, his yankee speak is pretty amazing for a frenchie. I know a few canucks that could use a lesson or two from that guy :)
@ Samit Sarkar
While I have Warrior Within to thank for my taste in music ( don't judge me), I agree that it and the PoP games should be kept seperate. Articles of the game seems to grant that wish.
Wow, first thing that came to mind was Meryl.
As far as I know this game focuses on a new Prince and I have to admit, how the hell is that going to work? I'm a bit worried tbh. Meh, we'll see.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

@Orcist
Actually, my British half causes me to become slightly violent at the sound of a French accent. Sorry.
+ Squee at screens.
