Ubisoft has started releasing a new set of vignettes that offer more in-depth  perspective on the new Prince of Persia through interviews with media and developers. This video focuses on the Prince himself. Topics of discussion include how he differs from other protagonists in the action genre of gaming, his personality and what motivates him.

I think my favorite quote from this video comes from the mouth of Prince of Persia's producer, Ben Mattes, where he says that the Prince "doesn't smolder with generic rage." I guess we're just supposed to forget about what was done with the great promise the character held in the second two installments of the previous trilogy. Sweet, sweet irony.

With luck, they won't make that same mistake twice, because -- changes to the art style aside -- what we've seen of Prince of Persia reminds me very much of Sands of Time. It would be a real shame to repeat history here, but at least we might get one more great game out of it.

Didn't Yahtzee use the phrase 'smoldering with generic rage' in the Prince of Persia ZP?
Do you think that was intentional? 'Cause that'd actually be kind of neat.

@TheCleaningGuy:
Ah, that's what I was thinking of. I had it mixed up a bit.
Okay, so is it a deliberate PA reference or just a coincidence?

"Smolder with generic rage" should become a new meme!

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this game.

I think I say this every time you guys post a video: you fucked up the aspect ratio. This is supposed to be displayed at 16:9. LEARN TO ENCODE VIDEOS PROPERLY!

I wouldn't say this is really a character that's interesting in any way still. The Prince was awesome in the original because he didn't really like or trust Farah and had to work with her anyways. I don't see any real reason for the Prince to be doing much of anything here, other than wanting to follow a chick around.

Whatever though, it looks pretty, and if it has the adventure focused gameplay to match, I don't really care too much about the character.

Is this video directed to some sort of MTV target group? That's what the cut and statements indicate. I feel stupidified.

I'm not digging how the characters have American accents.
The characters themselves seems to be generic Hollywood stock.

Anyway it's the gameplay that looks interesting and that's what matters.

I guess what I mean to say is This video is pointless.

Kinda funny that they tried to put across the point about new Prince being super original, yet pretty much described him as your run-of-the-mill generic rogue character. Still, I have faith it'll turn out all right.

Some of those 'experts' really need to improve their knowledge, though.

Is it just me, or do i hear Nathan Drakes voice coming out of the Prince?

cause that'll just throw me off the whole time when i'm playing.

I love how they basically admit that the Prince only follows Elika around at first because he wants to bang her.

Regarding the smoldering rage line, I'm pretty sure it's in reference to the last panel of this Penny-Arcade.

Ugh. I have to read all the comments before I post. At least I added a link. So that's something. Yeah.
