I picked this game up on amazon about a year ago because of how many people I saw talk about it fondly, but I didn't get very far with it. I was uninterested in the story after two hours and the gameplay was nothing special.I guess just missed my chance to love this game. Maybe I'll give it another try, I want to understand why some many people like this game so much.
I remember enjoying this when I played it years ago. I wonder how it has aged too, Jim. I might pick it up some time in the future. Right now thought there are too many interesting games coming out over the next few months.

I've always remembered this game fondly, but now that you mention it, the gameplay wasn't all that great in retrospect. Similar in some respects to Ghosthunter, from the same devs as well funnily enough.
The graphics were good for the time though, and the writing was pretty good too.

Give me a sequel to this, damn it. 16Volt made this game shine with the soundtrack. I bought a PSP and PS3 in the hopes that we would get a sequel to this one day.
Woohoo, Primal. I'm so glad Sony decided to make a PS2 Classics section of the store, because games both critically aclaimed and rare like Primal and Spongebob are too great to miss out on.
Haha now it makes perfect sense as to why b ackwards compatibility was scrapped, Sony wouldn't be able to re-charge us for games we already paid for years ago.

Can't wait to spend my money on it again. I also remember loving the soundtrack, it got me into alternative rock music, actually. I loved the last drop of track called "And I Go" by 16Volt from their album with a ridiculus title "SuperCoolNothing V2.0". I've spent a lot of time searching for music with similar heavy atmospheric riffs, but only years later I stumbled on to bands like Neurosis, Isis and Pelican that provided me with similar experience.
Is there a chance you'll review Primal? That would be awesome.

All I remember about this game was that the gal who played Calisto from Xena Warrior Princess did the voice for the female lead in it.

Damn this game was quiet! Had to turn my TV volume up to 80 to even hear anything. Most games I keep between 20-30.

Loved this game, doubt it holds up well though. That and the fact the game bugged a few times to were gargoyle friend wouldn't follow you so you had to restart the game due to how saves worked.
This one of those games that I saw a ton of coverage on and was very aware of its existence but never played.
Given that Sony's putting games like God Hand and Primal Rage on their classics section, it's safe to say that for most people backwards compatibility isn't a factor, cus not too many people bought these games.

I loved Primal. While the gameplay was fun (not incredible though), where it really shined was in the voice acting and graphics. This was probably the first game where it really felt like the characters were relating to each other. And for the time, the graphics were amazing. This was one of the few PS2 games that looked decent on a HDTV. It could output in 480p, and looked just fantastic.

I have this game, it was pretty cool. Unfortunately, the sluggish combat and huge world you have to run around started to drag for me and I lost interest.
