Game's looking really sharp. Probably a day-one purchase.
Not that I'm not buying the hell out of it, but they better improve the visuals until launch because, as previously stated, it looks like utter shit. As in "why the hell does it look so much like shit and why would I spend 40 bucks on this shitty looking shit?" to anyone that, unlike me, almost cries at the though of a new Shinobi game, specially when you take into account it looks even more awesome than the amazing version of Shinobi III.
The visuals look clean and smooth, but a little too primitive for my tastes. Would've loved Muramasa-esque visuals, really anything 2D.
Really Nick? I totally disagree. The game seems like a bad DS title that got postponed to get released on 3DS.
any chance there will be ports of original Shinobi games? i feel like with all those remakes/reboots developers ought to make original games as unockables. it would be stupid not to - it doesn't cost basically anything and adds more value which at the same time gives players more intention to buy the game so it automatically have more sales.
Looks fine in motion though. Could be better looking but hey, more Shinobi is always great and the mechanics looks solid as hell. Wonderful, really.
By the way, apparantly you play as Joe's father. Awesome.
@Springsteen - When you say "I hate to be a negative nancy, but..." its about whatever you're going to later insist its not.
Nick said this was the first level, its obviously not the complete build. Reserve judgement til its out. Is that really so hard?
No idea how the game turns out, I can only judge from the screens and I don't like what I see at all.
Although I'd like an HD console version too. Shinobi on the PS2 was the epitome of badass.
I mean, weven with Street Fighter and DOA Dimensions, they were making a game for an unproven system (well, proven now, its sold 4 million or so), so early on developers and publishers play conservative and do smaller budget games and ports.
This Shinobi game could be like like that Ghost Recon game in that respect. Shadow Wars was a hidden gen of the 3DS launch, but it certainly wasn't a looker, but apparently it didn't need to be. I'm not execting every game to be a graphics blowout and I sort of doubt anyone's going ot be matching Dead or Alive Dimensions soon on that score.
But fuck it MORE SHINOBI! Cant wait.
there's a difference between graphics whores and people who like good design and graphics. the game should have remained completely 2D or get Sonic Team on this to make 2.5D version(their Nights game looked amazing on Wii).
after looking a the trailer for new Shinobi i have to say game looks like it was made by Gameloft - which means, shitty. the level design is particularly bad with some awful textures, though not as bad as new BloodRayne game(talk about dropping the ball, WayForward).
I seriously hope they, and other developers, don't pull this "the graphics look like this in 2D, but will look better in 3D" bullshit.. 2D graphics should always strive to be their best so that those who hate the 3D or want to save battery life don't have to play an inferior game just because.. Thats not a good way to sell both your game and Nintendo's new system.
Agreed, this does'nt even look as good as Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, and that game was on the original DS!
And yeah, the graphics are a little... bland, but I won't give a shit if it's anywhere near as fast as Shinobi III.
How about open your eyes? Do I need to play it to have an opinion about the graphics which are clearly displayed in the trailer videos? It just looks like a lazy job. I am not a fan of the art-style either.
