Preview of the four new maps coming out this week for Call of Duty 4

     Xbox 360

The new Call of Duty 4 maps are set to come out this week on April 3rd in a timed exclusive deal for the Xbox 360 (PS3 will get the new maps in three weeks and eventually for the PC version). Some lucky gamers got a chance to play on these new maps this past weekend prior to the release. Infinity Ward threw a few events around the world to promote the new maps and, um, Nerf Guns.

A few of our own here at Dtoid got a chance to play with the four maps and have C-Blogged their adventures. Hit the jump to read about what atheistium, Pedro, Phist, Husky Hog and Dead247 thought of the new map pack.

Out of all the events that took place, it looks like atheistium was at the best one. They went all out with the decorations with sandbags and even demolished cars surrounding the London event. The London event also had the best prize with a 52" TV up for grabs. atheistium also managed to get a lot of attention while at the event since she was the only one there with a vag.

Back to America, two CoD 4 map pack events took place in San Jose and New York. Dead247 and Husky Hog went to the San Jose event but they got there late.  They really didn't get to do anything besides watching other people play the game. They played with a Nerf gun though and shot at cardboard. That's like a videogame.

Pedro and Phist went to the New York event and had a little more success compared to the West Coast duo. Pedro actually got a couple of the developers to sign the CoD 4 guide which he'll be giving away along with a CoD 4 camo shirt on his C-Blog soon. Phist should have his own write up later on in the evening.

To get a better idea of the maps, check the gallery below and head over to To1kien's C-Blog to see video of all the maps.

So now that you know a litte more about the maps, do you think it's going to be worth $10 ($2.50 a piece) for the four maps? And don't forget that this Friday's FNF will be hosting a Call of Duty 4 tournament. Check out the DestructoidFNF blog for all the details and the prizes are that are being offered up.

Hang on, so if I have the PC version we don't get the maps?! What the fuck?

Is this because MS wants them to charge for the maps but they cant charge PC players, so they just wont release them to PC players to keep a pretend value up?

I'm still iffy about dropping $10 on this, mostly because I hate the idea of supporting micropayments :(

I remember the good ol days of UT where new map packs would come out and you would just download them, for free. Good times... good times...

Thank goodness for the US govt giving all us gamers an extra $600 this year to buy additional content!

Hmm. I totally forgot about these maps coming out when I bought Rainbow Six Vegas 2 today. Prolly could saved myself some money.

Oh well. RSV2 is pretty entertaining. I like the ranking and progression over CoD4, although the graphics leave a little bit to be desired in comparison. I'll wait 'til these are free to pick 'em up.

"working on the logistics of getting the maps to PC".

Lulz, if they think they can try and rip us PC gamers off by charging for maps they'll be sorely disappointed. Dipshits.

Are these new maps gonna have spawn points where you spawn looking at a wall and also on grenades, claymores, and right next to the other team. If so sign me up!!!!

I'll pass, although I'm getting the GotY edition tomorrow

I was dumb enough to buy the Heroic map pack for halo. and I've never ONCE played on them because they never got added to the ranked playlist. the maps are purely for you and your friends to dick around on with "Social Playlists" and since thats probably going the case with this map pack, I'm going to pretend it never came out

@Rainbowblack : ironically, i think they are on the ranked lists now. Just got added a couple days ago. I might be wrong though, thinking of the social lists.

In any case, i dont pay for maps. I like that bungie releases them for free eventually; you pay for the privilege rather than the maps themselves. I have CoD 4 for pc anyway, so ill just wait.

Sucks I have to wait to get these on the PS3 but at least we get them. Sucks they are charging, but since this is the only multiplayer game I play on the PS3 I'll end up getting them.

I'm cheap, I'll wait till they are free and I might just pick up the game and play again!

They might never become free, from what I've heard the map packs for CoD2 never went free, only the one that was released free to begin with.

I bought the map pack for COD3, only to find out no other fucker did so I only ever played them about twice each, in half empty games.

Somehow I don't think this will be an issue here.

GT Gridl0k if anybody (UK ppl?) wants to add.

Now I just have to decide whether to prestige for the 4th time, or try for gold..
