Quantcast

Oh dear lord, another one of these? Oh, wait, this is semi-original ... and funny!
Press Start tells the story of a suburban youth in a videogame world who discovers his adventurous, if berserk, destiny when he's recruited by an ill-tempered ninja and a tough-as-nails space soldier to save the world from a tyrannical, but comically insecure, sorcerer.

With special appearances by game actors Daniel and Carlos Pesina (Mortal Kombat) and music by videogame composer Jake Kaufman (Contra 4), there's never been anything like Press Start!

Overall, Press Start looks really interesting. Sure, it looks extremely cheesy, but go listen to their production journal and you'll see that there was no giant team making this movie. Just a few guys and gals doing it for the love of gaming. Also, check out some of the Dial V for Vile videos as well as the Bonus Levels flash series for some background on the story line.

The DVD is set to hit September 25, the same day the most anticipated event of all time is going to happen ...

Once you take a look at everything, what are your impressions of it all?

Saw this in CBlogs... it would seem pretty solid from the trailer. Ghetto indie films are great when done right. JESUS CHRIST SUPERCOP.

Why'd you let him hit you? It was his turn.

I like this.

Now this is gonna be a cult classic. About time we approached the funny bone for once. Can't wait to check this out.

It actually doesn't look as bad some the other video game movies. I mean, of course it's going to be cheesy, but some of the jokes look funny. At least it looks like they've played a game or two before, unlike a lot of other movies just cashing in on the market.Probably not something I buy, but definitely something I'd be willing to rent.

It's more a fan, friends-goofing-around video than a feature film from what I see. Clever, funny...but just a goofy project by friends...not a real production from what I saw.

Something that would kick ass in a student film class, and since they are making everything like this on purpose then I can definately dig it. Count me in for buying it.

"You can move in 3 dimensions!" "Oh, right!"

Looks like it's made of win. The Bonus Levels are pretty good too - check out "Poker, Mon".

@ Gareson

Well, they're selling DVDs of it on September 25, so it's pretty much a production.

It still looks cheesy and poorly done, like everything else like it, but they've got some amusing ideas there.

Eh, I've been on the Press Start bandwagon ever since I came across the poorly animated, but extremely funny, Bonus Levels flash series on Newgrounds. If the movie is as funny as the flash videos, this might be worth checking out.

@Trevor
I think you miss the point...it may be "produced" by those bunch of game officionados but it is not something you'll ever see in a theater. Cute...but ultimately..."fan art" for sale.
