LEGO games are all the same, hold whatever shitty button and build, go and collect the shitty red blocks and unlock a shitty character that does the same shitty thing. Oh yay, I got ghost Yoda, FUCK GHOST YODA. I'm so glad I got a Pippin instead of a Xbox.
This is a really lame, insanely nerdy thing to point out... But it's spelled "Gimli," not "Gimley" (which, technically, means the act of being licked up the entire length of your face).
This looks so much better than most of the more serious LotR games. It's been a long time since I bought a Lego game, but this one looks like fun.
Thank god that Lego games depreciate in value so quickly. It'll be $30 a month after it comes out and I'll snap it up then.

nice that they're finally going forward with Lego games - it seems like we're getting the second wave of games in Lego franchise. so far they were basically switching templates in Lego Star Wars and honestly, i grew tired long time ago. without interesting brands like Indiana Jones or Pirates everybody would stop care years ago. so it's great that they started evolving the core gameplay of Lego franchise and it seems like with Lego Batman 2, Lego City Stories and now LotR, they're trying new things - each build specifically for one game.
Ghost Yoda is the same as normal Yoda, but ghost Yoda is see through blue. No difference apart from that.
When they asked the question "What LEGO game would you like to see in the future?" My answer was always THIS. I'm so excited this is a thing. Might even be a lauch day purchase for me... (that's saying a lot)
I think it's soooo weird that they just took voice clips from the movie. Is that going to be in the full game, too, or was it just for the trailer?
Surely the money and time spent developing this game could have been better used making ANY other game.
@Pippin - You forget that as a ghost, Ghost Yoda gets no aggro from enemies!

Considering the ring is now the size of a soup bowl, I'm not surprised Frodo thinks of it as a burden.

As hesitant as I am to criticize even the faintest hint of innovation considering how little has changed between all the lego games, I'm really not sure about the talking. The Charlie Chaplin silent comedy routine that the cutscenes are is what makes them so charming, and in this trailer... it's just dialogue ripped straight out of the films? And they sort of take the cutscenes seriously? That just seems wrong.
But in any case, LotR, with all it's a wonderful and unique characters, is a perfect fit for the lego games (much better than Indiana Jones), and I love how enormous the ring is. Maybe my brother will play it. I personally am long-finished with these games, though I am interested in lego city stories.

I agree that making them talk is a horrible idea.

Yeah, I kinda prefer the pantomiming and weird baby talk from the earlier LEGO games. I'm still totally getting this to play with the kiddo.

Why stick with Star Wars or Harry Potter or Batman,
when you can have Gollum, Frodo, and the wiseguy Sam?
Forget about Bionicle or pirates or aliens so cool,
when I get the one ring all I will do is drool.
