Fairies and tits replaced by skulls and more skulls respectively.
(looking good though)
(i hate you for pushing me, ulthane! cant cope with this kind of stress)
But Metallica hasn't been metal since 1988, it's like making Aerosmith the header for a blues event (They're pop rock now if I recall correctly)
Other than that, good preview
Especially DM and BM. How could you deny the metal?!
How do you know they weren't playing 1980s Metallica?
I mean, they weren't, but how do YOU know that?!
Simple, most big corporations don't think of the good stuff because it's too old for the masses to know, they think of the new, dumbed down "hip" stuff. I mean you won't see something like Kill the Witch by Warhead or Children of Heaven by Sword (The 1980's Sword NOT The Sword), because it's not what the masses already know.
besides Metallica is overrated anyway, sure they did some good things for the genre early on, but once the black album came out it all went too shit.
The Black album was much more hard rock influenced than metal, St Anger wasn't even an album and Death Magnetic was more hard rock influenced like The Black Album.
...you killed this game for me. But I forgive you, because that was hilarious.
Never made it through DS1, specifically thanks to that one glitch where your rip-off portal guns STOP FUCKING WORKING.
Yeah, songs like Enter Sandman have a hard rock edge to them, but it was an overall metal album. Same goes for DM.
And St. Anger is nu-metal. Sludge metal. Whatever you wanna call it. Again, you may not like it (even I don't that much), but it's metal for sure.
But enough getting off-topic. Especially since I've had these same kinda arguments so many times before being a huuuuuuuuge Metallica buff.
Oh fuck yeah. The PINK AND BLACK ATTACK!
As for DSII, I really enjoyed the first, so I'll definitely be picking this up.
This game looks pretty neat to me, I am sure I will get to this sometime, once I get through the ol' backlog. But at the rate that quest is progressing, I'll probably be playing Darksiders II sometime in 2014 or so. If my xbox hasn't died by then that is.
The part that gets me is that they could save a ton of money by skipping Metallica and contacting smaller, less famous bands.
He's the epiphany of death.
The heck do you expect? A Care Bear with pink/blue armor and a candy cane sword?
"Honestly, why does anyone give a shit whether or not Metallica is "Metal?" In the context of Darksiders, it doesn't matter if you think Metallica is "Hard Rock" or "Lite Shyte." Metallica has brand recognition which is what just about any real "metal" band lacks"
True
"outside the relatively small metalhead community, which is probably why they played it at the event."
They aren't THAT small, They're much bigger in Europe than in America(Or so I've heard)
"I'm just amazed they didn't introduce the game with a younger band like Avenged Sevenfold or Five Finger Death Punch or whatever shitty rock young people are listening to nowadays... "
Thank fucking god, I still wish that Iced Earth was the song of choice (look at the album covers, you can tell the art style is pretty simular to that of Darksiders IMO)
@SeymourDuncan17
Do you even know what Sludge metal sounds like? also The Black Album isn't really a full metal album, it may have some metal songs though.
to be honest even though Load/Reload weren't metal albums they were still better than The Black Album as a whole (That's not saying much since the black album is pretty shitty)
@The Nakedest
Brutal Legend did that and the soundtrack was widely praised, but it makes more sense that someone as big as THQ would chose a brand name like Metallica since they sell to the dad rock crowd.
I *REALLY* hope for their sake they were talking about the earlier Zelda games where it's more action and RPG and less...well, boring shit.
Hope someone doesn't rape me for saying it.
Your FAIL never ceases to amaze.
@Propelledfoot
God of War basically IS DMC, except more gruesome and less arcade-like. Darksiders is more like that.
-----
I liked the original Darksiders a good amount even if it wasn't the greatest 'Zelda-like' out there. I'm pleased to see the customization (the first game was basically just focused on upgrading moves) but I hope there's some more new stuff in there at least.
Then again, there was some controversy/contention at the time about if it was even Metallica's song to publish.
-Listen to the song 'Mechanix' by Megadeth.
Iirc, I guess that it was written by Mustaine when he was still w/ Metallica...and I guess that they came to an agreement where they could both pretty much both put out the same song.
When it comes to luck in getting amazing guitarists (Mustaine & Hammet); Metallica has only been out-done by Ozzy (*RHANDY RHOADS* (R.I.P.), Jake E Lee, Zack Wylde); and yes...IMO...Rhandy was the best of them all...
-Blending classical music into some of the best rock guitar solos...umm...Ever!
