Bomberman holds a special place in the heart of Dtoiders. Not only has the Bomberman franchise always been a fun game to play, but the XBLA, and soon to be PSN version of the game, feature Mr. Destructoid as a playable character. Pretty impressive for a blog mascot to get into a game, eh?
I played the PSN version last week at Hudson's offices and it's exactly the same as the XBLA version with a couple of additions. The PSN release will have all of the DLC content that was released for the XBLA version with the overall price expected to be cheaper on the PSN when it's released. The other nice addition is the support for seven-player local matches. Yes, you and six of your friends can play on one console together.
Other than that, the game has eight-player online multiplayer, 14 arenas, 50 costumes with 150,000 possible combinations, leaderboards, 16 power-ups, and fully customizable matches.
As far as gameplay goes, well, it's Bomberman! You run around stages and try to be the last man standing as you blow everything and everyone up. You don't belong on the Internet if you didn't know this already.
Bomberman Ultra should be out sometime in January for the PSN.
