Still can run anything at the highest settings, but dayum I'm not even going to try this.
Jokes aside, that was supremely impressive, and really makes me wonder how much farther we can take graphic technology where people will still makes games that actually push the boundaries of these cards. Like honestly, how long must that elf taken to model, texture, etc? Like, a couple weeks or something? Thats a lot for one model in a game that say, would need a couple hundred.
Buy/build a real PC with whatever parts you want. =)
What I think they're doing with this kinds of tech demo is to show off what kind of graphical features are possible with nvidia.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think there is an engine running this, doing whatever you want in real time.
given that those two cards alone would have cost around $800 where i live, and that my whole rig cost roughly that much, you best be trolling.
my single 560 ran this, but i had to turn off "ultra mode" to make it smooth. it's pretty cool, but i've not been really impressed with these tech demos since "luna". things have come a long way in a relatively short time, but as with most things in life, that last inch toward perfection is the hardest!
I also remember the opening of Tekken 2 on the PS1 looking amazing at the time, but it's now far worse than the real time graphics in a regular game. However, games have had this calibre of graphics, albeit in cutscenes only, for years now. Not to mention, we've all got used to CG being used 100% seamlessly with movies now. Go back to Episode 1 and it all looks so shitty and fake. Our brains can't just be like "asdasadassdas HOW?" any more, it's more like a civilised "Oh I say, real time you say? Quite marvellous".
I took some stills if anyone cares. Is there any other graphical settings than resolution?
Which will be never unless they find some way to semi-automate the production of high end graphical assets. Maybe one game studio will invest in this level of quality and have a Pixar-film length 60$ game, but I doubt this will be sustainable for all games, or even high budget games. I personally wouldn't pay just for 2 hours of pretty graphics unless the game induced orgasms or something.
