What do we have here? An organization trying to expose the Russian government's "web of lies"? A female assassin trying to kill someone on national television? Oh dear, what is the world coming to?

OK, fine. The secret's out -- it's just viral marketing (via MyMediaMusings) for the upcoming Activision title, Singularity. The game's narrative revolves around a top-secret Russian project that went down in the 1950s, and experiments with an element called "E99." The Raven-developed first-person shooter has players bending time and using it as a weapon, which could actually be an interesting gameplay hook.

The latest issue of Game Informer features Singularity on its cover, so pick up the issue if you want more details. GI Online also has a handful of behind-the-scenes videos, some of which feature glimpses of gameplay. Or, you know, you can follow Activision's viral marketing down the rabbit hole by checking out the "mysterious" MIR-12 blog or these three other YouTube videos. Seems like a good way to kill an afternoon, right?

I find it weird that so many games are tackling the 50's era in so many different way's. I like that era, but some of these settings are just off the wall.

I wondered what game this was for. A lot of people thought it was real but the acting was just so obvious!

I'm already getting sick of the new "viral marketing for videogames" fad.

Please, someone tell the execs: It's no longer cool if everybody does it!

I actually got that GI in the mail recently, and the ideas behind this game make me want it so bad.

But, with it's crazy gimmick (a weapon you point at things to send them backwards or forwards through time), I feel like it's gonna be the next Mirror's Edge: amazing idea, sub-par execution.

Raven made the Jedi Knight games, right?
That raises a little promise.
