Prepare for battle: Unreal Tournament 3 site gets update and soundtrack [Update] photo

Although the Epic Games/Midway Unreal Tournament 3 Web site is still listed as "coming soon", a few new items were added to the site to keep you busy until the November release on PC and PlayStation 3.

Hop on over to check out the downloadable high-resolution trailers from E3 and Gamers Day as well as 28 downloadable screenshots (like the one above).

The 20-song Unreal Tournament 3 soundtrack is also available for your listening pleasure, although you're not able to download it. It's still a nice preview of things to come. While it's not the best stand-alone soundtrack, if you're anything like me, you'll feel the urge to play from just hearing it.

[Music4Games was kind enough to let us know that the Unreal Tournament 3 soundtrack can be downloaded from their site. Thanks, Greg]

[thanks, Justin]

I really hope Epic lifts the ban on this being a PS3 exclusive kinda like RockStar with the GTA series. The Unreal franchise is what really got me into FPS games and PC gaming in general. It's a shame I don't have the funds for a strong enough PC (a front projector home theater set up does that to you I guess) and already own a 360. Sigh.

This is one game I am jealous of PS3 owners for getting to play. This and R&C.

Does anyone ever listen to the original soundtrack in such games?

@ B-Radicate

Yeah, it's kinda surprising that such a PC-centered game is being only released on PS3 on the console side, not on on the more similar 360.

The delay for the 360 is more of a development issue than a manufactured delay... They have to completely redo the online features for Xbox because of Live, where for PS3 they can just port over the PC stuff.

@Professor Pew,
Yes, many of us Unreal fanboys were very excited to hear the soundtrack, its a frequently overlooked area of game development that can really add to a game.

@Blaaguuu: I'm sure it adds to the game, it's just that I see most people playing it with their own loud techno/drum&bass music under it where I live.

The soundtrack is not so overlooked guys... Every unreal had multipule artists comming together with big names folding in there lives wnd work..

Alice had one of the leads from Tool design the entire sound, Quake was NIN as we all know, Quake 3 was Sonic Mayhem and Fronline Assembly, Diablo was the Australian Orchestral blah blah...

Music is huge, and its being taken very seriously, the $$ spent on music is rivaling blockbuster movies now... and i for one love it...

Titans Quest had Bang Camaro do a melodic metal rendering of there theme.. the new Duke Forever is using riffs by Dave Mustang (rumored)

Sanitarium had the top trance and darkwave artists from the UK come together for a month of msuic magic...

Music is everything nowadays... it always has been, but people like EA that just license tracks and never even make a single song for the game fuck the scope of music back to pong... we need more original compositions, more outsorcing...

like the fact that a certain FPS talent will be using his skills in a new game soon (Sonic Mayhem) Oh HELL yeah!! he did Quake 2 mission packs 1&2 Wild 9, TMNT, and lastly the James Bond we all love... yeah he just did Hellgate: London and the new Beowolf game ...

FUCK YEAH! http://www.myspace.com/sonicmayhemmusic listen to faultline and tell me that doesnt kick ass!

Until Epic can prove they know what they're doing when it comes to online play, I'm going to hold off on this one. They royally fucked Gears up. Each patch made it significantly worse, which tells me they know jack shit about online play, at least for consoles.

damn that was nostalgic how they put in remixes of the themes from the original back in 1999

I want something at least as awesome as ONS08 was in UT2003. My favorite UT song.

You can download the soundtrack. BeyondUnreal has it mirrored in a zip file if you'd like it.

Should be good, but unreal for me has always been a PC game. Consoles suck fap at bringing the likes of Quake and Unreal to your TV. Mouse + Keyboard > all in FPS.

Yay! UT music, a friend loves to drive while listening to UT music.

Hopefully the UT3 soundtrack will be more like Alexander Brandon's original UT soundtrack with stellar tracks like Foregone Destruction (Facing worlds) and Skyward and less like UT2k3/4 kinda rubbish one. I've heard Brandon's producing some of the songs on this one so I'm hoping for the best.

And @Professor Pew, I always put some sweet darkstep DnB (eg Origin Unknown) or some trippy ambient (eg AFX) on while I play UT2k4. It's a sweet game to chill to during a comedown blaze up.

Man, I've always played games with the original soundtrack, as I feel the developers were trying to create a certain feeling with the music and I want to experience the game the way it was intended.

But man, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia when I heard that stuff. It's awesome, but more importantly some old 99 tunes have been remixed, to a far better quality than they were in 2004. Thank you EPIC for delivering that final touch.

This is the treatment of long time fans I wish so many developers would give. EPIC have my money, guaranteed.

Bluesnews has a news piece up reporting that Mark Rein is hinting that they are now "trying" to hit the November target release date which is different from saying they "Will" be shipping in Novemeber.

I would bet a years salary that it'll be the last week of February before we see it.

The game looks pretty sweet, but I'm gonna have to decide which shooters I want to get, there are so many great ones coming out this year. I'll probably choose UT3 as one of the few I buy, that and Crysis and ET:QW, and Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead, and...

FUCK!
