Premium streaming content option for Netflix being hinted at photo

As a Netflix subscriber for a few years now, I wholeheartedly recommend the service to anyone who asks, especially gamers who are thinking about joining for the Xbox 360 streaming capabilities.

With that said, I also admit that while there's plenty of good media in the Watch Instantly section if you look hard enough, there is still quite a bit of room for improvement.

If this recent Netflix survey that was sent to a handful of members is anything to go by, subscribers might eventually have to the option to pay a little extra for premium, streamable content from channels like HBO.

Being able to stream Curb Your Enthusiasm and Flight of the Conchords to my 360 for an additional $9.99 on top of my current membership fee? Hmm, I'm not quite sure I'd be able to resist such an offer. What about you?

Another 10 bucks isn't going to fly. Why not just tack on a extra dollar like they do for people who rent Blu-ray?

It better damn well be at no additional charge. The additional customers gained from the additional content should be enough to cover the cost and then some.

That would make no sense. Starz is a premium tv channel so why would HBO be any different? I know i would not pay for it.

Seconded, elsteveo

Starz is already on the regularly-priced streaming Netflix. It wouldn't make any sense to charge extra for the same type of channels.

I can only see this making sense for people that don't have any TV what-so-ever. $20 for premium channels and all the movies you want isn't bad. In fact that's what my wife and I are doing now with the regular service.

360 owners pay $30 a year for the best (consider the source) online gaming platform!

PC/PS3 users content with sturdy service, cannot see advantage.

360 owners now get the privilege of paying an additional $10 for High-def streaming of certain IPs.

PC/PS3 users more than content with the full 1080p of Bluray.

Get what you pay for I guess.

Occasionally I would like to have netflix to watch movies with someone over Live but I wouldn't do it to watch tv shows. Thats what Hulu or eztv are for.

pfft...Streaming Content has no quality guarantee. Unlike Blu-ray media, I'm not paying for potentially blocky, low bitrate, poorly encoded video.

Also, why pay for streaming content that will be available in a DVD that they won't charge you for?

I'd pay an extra buck or two a month, but certainly not 10.

Eh, I think it would just make me angry. It seems I have enough monthly subscriptions to whatever the fuck as it is.

Or, how about letting current HBO subscribers access the content for free? Why should I pay twice for access to the same content?

God damn all you people are cheap. Do you know how much you would be saving not having a cable bill, and the shit is on demand. 10 bucks is well worth it for HBO and akinamax.

Ten bucks? That's a tad steep for my blood. I'd rather other distributors, TV or movie-wise, just step up and follow where Starz is going, especially if they want to make digital downloads the norm and not the exception. Otherwise, I'll take what I can get online and stick to the physical format.

I would much rather stream content over my 360 and watch movies on my big screen then sit in front of a monitor with my wife watching shows on hulu or any other PC site for that matter. There is quite a few full seasons of a good chunk of shows already on netflix. Some of those are even showtime series, which is a premium channel.

I have a DVR and already subscribe to HBO. I don't feel like I should spend an extra $10.
