Pre-purchase Left 4 Dead on Steam, get 10% off and the option to pre-load photo

Do you love zombies and good co-op games? Are you playing the Left 4 Dead demo for far longer than any single human being ought to? Do you find yourself counting the minutes until Valve unleashes the zombie masses upon the world?

Chances are high that if you answered yes to all three questions, especially that last one, you have already pre-ordered Left 4 Dead; if you fall under this category, just keep on walkin'.

For everyone else, here's the situation: if you pre-purchase L4D on Steam, you save 10% and can pre-load the game for play at 12:01 a.m. EST on November 18. Oh joy!

Similarly, you could always get the Valve Complete Pack which comes with all sorts of goodies, including L4D. If you happen to have a spare Franklin laying around, go check it out.

How's the game performing on your hype-o-meter?

Hype-O-Meter confirmed for awesomeness.

Also, FUCK TANKS. Fuck them to hell. Followed by the Witches at a distant second.

The hype is pretty sky-high for me. Tank tip- In the subway level, get all survivors to haul ass into the small ventilation shaft towards the beginning of the level, and then shoot the hell out of the tank. Works 90% of the time.

Shame on you, posting pictures of teenage girls in their underwear on the front page. Tsk, tsk.

I'm not hyped for it, sorry.

I'd trade L4D in for a teaser trailer of HL2E3 anytime.

Okay... Valve have been pushing this for weeks and weeks. It's been on the front page of Steam for at least 2 months.

But honestly, what I find weird is not the time, but that fact that this offer is crap. It's only $5, and I guarantee that I can find it for less than that. If fact, I already have, I can get it for under $40 without batting an eyelid.

@UglyPhil

You don't know the half of it - in the UK it costs £33 over Steam and you can buy it from Amazon for 319.99.

I think the discount is crap too. I was able to get Orange Box for %25 off msrp last year.

But I'm all about the preloading this time around. And fuck smokers who grab and drag you off the minigun and across the entire room during the standoff.

Pre-bought, and pre-loaded. Steam is awesomeness. The discount could be a little more considering the convenience for Steam, but EA online service charges a fee to use their service so this is pretty great in comparison.

Tip: Tank pounding away at an incapacitated ally? Melee him in the back! Tanks really, really don't like it when they're struck in melee, and will almost immediately lose interest in your fallen comrade in favor of you.

i dont know about this game anymore. played he demo. it was way to dark(yes it adds to the scaryness but come on). not enough weapons.

yeah zombies are fast but they seem to die at the drop of a hat ,what ever happened to removing the head and destroying the brain? now its 2 shots to the chest and there dead?. i cant tell if there are multiple ways to finish a level or is it all a set path? dark closets of no interest.

I thought the demo was fun but I still have reservations about how long playing through the same levels will remain interesting, even if the zombie hordes are dynamic. I'm curious how hard mapping will be for this too, I could definitely get more interested if some good custom maps came out.

Probably won't be preordering since I have more than enough to play at the moment, but it's definitely on my radar.

Bring it on.

Also, I love how I automatically pace myself with the game, saving myself from overplaying it and thereby complaining for picky reasons about an awesome game.

2 hours of L4D and my brain screams "NO MORE ANGRY UNDEAD PLEASE, THANKS" and I retreat to a book, and cover myself in blankets.

What a difference a demo makes!

Two hours ago: didn't care about L4D. Now: preloading.

Ahh Valve, does anything you touch turn into gaming gold?

This isn't on my hype meter. Its on my "OMFG DO WANT" meter set to full because its power is maximum.

Other than that, yeah, I'm pre-loading as I type this. The demo was great, and I'd be playing it right now. But school, studying, etc. keep me from that. After 3pm today though, I will be playing the demo a lot.

@Russ: Oh yes, mapping should be pretty easy they said. You don't have to worry about spawning anything, the game will do it for you. I think you just build the place, maybe designate safe-zones and ammo depots (although I think the game may take of that too), and the game does the zombies and everything else. I look forward to some of the maps people come up with. I think it'd be terrifying to have the game in a school on fire or a prison. Close-quarters zombie blasting for the win.

They're not technically zombies. They're "infected." They've been infected with and mutated by a strain of the rabies virus. They're only zombies in the broad sense.
