Pre-order The Orange Box, get access to the Team Fortress 2 beta photo

The Orange Box, an impressive collection of Valve games including Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2, can now be pre-purchased on Steam.

As an added incentive, you’ll save $5 and will get access to the Team Fortress 2 beta starting September 17. Hell, they’re even throwing in Peggle Extreme! I’ve got no idea what that is, but I suppose it's the thought that counts. Remember, this offer is good until October 10, the game’s release date.

Now here’s the dilemma: do you pre-purchase The Orange Box because it’s cheaper and will allow you to play Team Fortress 2 early on, or do you instead get the Xbox 360 version of the game so that you’ll be able to play with your Xbox Live friends and increase your gamerscore?

A special thanks goes to AngelsDontBurn and Dyslixec for getting the word out on the community blogs earlier today.

Yeah I saw this a few days ago, somehow I don't feel the urge to get the orange what-have-you just for a TF2 beta.

This is just for the PC version right? Because I could only hope it was the 360 one.

Scrixx: Yes, you can buy them separately. But it really is more of a value to buy the Orange Box though.

Portal = $20
TF2 = $30
EP2 = $30

Orange box = $50

@ Scrixx

Yes, but only if you buy them individually via Steam. Portal will be $19.99 and TF2 is going to be $29.99.

I'm so fuckin' jazzed for this, you have no clue. This has to be the absolute best value in gaming this year. Definitely looking forward to this one.

As for PC/Console? I'm going for the 360 version so I can play TFC with friends. I also just got an HDTV and want to put it to good use.

You get the PC version because Achievements suck, Half-Life 2 without mods is lame, and trying to play TF on a 360 will be fail (you think you're gonna rocket jump with dual analogues?).

This bundle looks really nice, and I may be forced to buy it ;_;.

Note: The Steam Community feature which is in beta right now provides functionality similar to Xbox Live. In my opinion, XBL is a poor reason to choose the 360 version over PC. You're going to get the same ease of setting up games with friends on the PC version. I expect Steam Community will be finished up pretty close to the release of these major titles.

I'll buy these on PC, but I'm betting it's going to look like hell. Oh well, incentive to build that new PC.
