I'm a sucker for the series and have read the books, novels and comics, and bought the two previous CE's and alreqdy preordered the CE for 3. Mainly because the art books and soundtracks make it worth it to me.
I draw a line at action figures though, I don't need toys scattered about my house. Thankfully its MP shit I could care less about so I won't feel like I'm missing out..
I want the Cerberus Life Insurance plan.. Doesn't matter if you die, you can live again -and if you don't have save data you can start your whole life over!
nice, people who buy expensive toys get something completely random, that the may not want, but somehow this artbook nails down a rifle? Randomize it BioWare/EA, to make it fair to the guys who are going to buy your damn toys.
Only DLC I'm looking forward to is "Grunt's Toilet Roll Adventures"
These are from the Collector's Edition:
N7 Arsenal Pack - Bring the firepower with the N7 Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, SMG, and Pistol
Robotic Dog - A faithful sidekick to keep you company on board the Normandy
Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack - New appearances for your favorite squad members
N7 Hoodie - For Commander Shepard's casual days on board the Normandy
From just pre-ordering:
M55 Argus - an excellent close-range weapon as its bursts of fire ensure ammunition conservation during lengthy conflicts.
From pre-ordering from Gamestop:
N7 Warfare Gear (armor and weapon)
From pre-ordering from EA:
AT12 Raider Shotgun
From pre-ordering from Steam:
Sadness :C
From buying other stuff:
Randomized DLC from figurines (how many variations, who knows?)
"Collector Assault Rifle"
So yeah, this is not including the potential for another drink tie in to the game and the various other products that could be purchased to get DLC.
I don't give a shit.
Seriously. It doesn't matter to me at all. I've gotten so freaking good at ME2 that I can blow through Insanity as a Vanguard with only the most basic of weapons. So no, I don't actually need the Extra Special Rocket Launcher of Almighty Shininess or Uncle Slappy's Bloody Viking Armor O'Doom.
Besides, weapons aren't the point anyway. The Mass Effect saga is a story driven experience. When you saw Return of the Jedi for the first time, did you care what kind of lightsaber Darth Vader had? It didn't matter at all and you probably never even thought about it until just now.
So yeah, stuff like this is fun when you accidentally get it but it's not worth getting your panties in a wad over. My two cents, there you have them.
The Collectors' Rifle is actually pretty awesome in ME2. It has great accuracy at range and a lovely rate of fire. However the Revenant, which is included in the core game, blows it out of the water. And besides, the real Shep doesn't need guns anyway because he's an Adept.

You are a terrible human being and I don't think we can ever be friends.

I may be the greatest supporter of Mass Effect. What it has done for the genre of space opera is a feat not accomplished since Leviathan Wakes or even Known Universe. However, you have to realize that what Bioware and EA are doing to it's franchise is running into the ground. Mass Effect 3 is more and more sounding like an appeasement to the frat boys that to the hard core nerds.
Sorry to break it to everyone, but before it's over this jet is likely to crash and burn.
I doubt that, very, very much. I don't ever recall seeing a nerdy gamer engaged in jock binge drinking or ruffing up the nearest "looser." Unless we're counting the COD crowd as "Nerds", then there may be some parallels.
EA and Bioware are marketing Mass Effect as a SHOOTER and not an RPG. This is to try to capture some of the COD crowd their way. My response to that would be, when has Mass Effect EVER tried to be like COD, BF3 or any other mediocre shooter on the market? EA and Bioware should stick to what Mass Effect does well, story and characters, not multiplayer/ K/D ratio.
