Pre-order Green Day: Rock Band with GameStop, export tracks for free photo

Unlike The Beatles: Rock Band, the 47 tracks on the upcoming Green Day: Rock Band won't be held hostage on the game disc. Instead, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to export the songs to their hard drives for play in Rock Band 1-3 for a fee of $9.99.

But for those who pre-order it at GameStop, they can keep that ten spot in their pockets. The retailer is offering up a token to export all 47 tracks with a pre-order. Alternately, fans can pick up Green Day: Rock Band Plus for $69.99, which features a similar token, as well as six additional Green Day song downloads (and fancy box art).

With a pre-order only being $5 (and going towards your purchase), if you intended to pick up Green Day: Rock Band (and own other versions of the music game), then this seems like a pretty good deal. That is if you're into Green Day saving money, of course.

I still don't understand how Green Day was able to get their own Rock Band, and I don't expect to see this one fly off the shelves anytime soon. Beatles Rock Band though... <3

Say what you will of the band and their music, I think this might sell fairly well. There's a reason Harmonix chose this band for this game and theres a reason American Idiot is one of the highest selling albums in the last decade. I'm not sure what those reasons are, but its enough to have an entire RockBand dedicated to them and theater musical to be made.

Might have something to do with 22 million records, 4 Grammy Awards and 16 years of success.

@Chris Memolo:

It might. But that doesn't change the fact that there are at least 50 other bands that I would rather see get their own Rock Band game.

@Corduroy Turtle yeah, but would they have the potential to sell a million plus copies?
Like em, love em or hate em, Green Day is probably the best current band to get their own game, if only for every reason Chris already mentioned.

Green Day are fucking awesome. If you hate Green Day, don't be hypocrite and say that the Black Eyed Peas are good.

Better yet, wait a year, gamefly it, export the songs and delete everything that came out after 2000.

@Sarias Song
lolwut?

A) How the hell do you compare Black Eyed Peas to Green Day?
B) How are you suddenly assuming that?

Don't get butthurt because someone else doesn't like your music. Laugh it off and carry on. If I got pissy every time some troll PM'd me with "lol La Roux sux," I'd be spending so much time cryin' over it I'd be no better than they are.

We can all live together. It just takes one person with the thick skin and the balls to not start whinin' every time someone disagrees with them.

I'm just going to buy it used from GameStop, spend the $10 to export the tracks, then return it in less then a week for a full refund.

I'm not a big enough fan of Green Day to spend anything more then $10 for their tracks.

I guess for punks like me Green Day was my Beatles.

It could be worse, it could be the Offspring who IMHO haven't put out a decent album since MAYBE Ixnay. Green Day with all of their political grandstanding have at least tried to release more than clones of their best selling album.

I'll be picking it up because some of their shit is catchy and popular enough for my friends that they would want to play it at my bbq's.

Good luck with that, Hindesite. The people at your local GStop must be idiots.

This is odd. Most of the flak I've seen Green Day get is from people that A) accuse them of selling out, and hate anything that was released about 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, and B) accuse them of selling out, and hate anything that was released after Warning.

And I of course meant released "AFTER" 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, not "about."

Not too bad of a pre-order incentive. I guess if you really want this game, but I'm not sure who does.

I hate these guys nowadays but Dookie was an alright album. Their latest offerings are unnaceptably terrible and seem to be laser targeted towards a 14 year old hormonal adolescent audience.

I look forward to the days when these ridiculous RB/GH games simply go away.

And BTW...Green Day sucks. Their last good album was Dookie.

That's what I was talking about, "Dookie" coming up in a discussion related to Green Day. Now we're getting somewhere.

On another note, I'm not sure Harmonix is making quite the right decision with these band-only RB offerings. Sure, the Beatles made sense, it's hard to hate on them, but stuff like this will always be polarizing.

Also, @mizzougrad01, I don't mean to be a dick, but U2 and Radiohead RB? That's missing the point of a ROCK band entirely. Their songs are way too boring to rock out to.

ok if you dont like green day, then dont buy the game apart from that no one really gives a f... wether u like them or not and your opinion is worthless. If you do enjoy the band then buy the game and have a good time playing it with friends. And about all this stuff about selling out and which albums are better.... IT IS JUST MUSIC! or should i say just a playstation game with music on it! haha

I wasn't comparing the Black Eyed Peas and Green Day, I was aying that the Black Eyed Peas were crap and talentless.

What I meant to say is that you can hate Green Day all you want, but if you are going to, don't say halfass talent is better than them.Face it: The E.N.D won't ever be able to beat Dookie in sales or popularity, Especially with Longview on Dookie:

"Bite my lip and close my eyes
take me away to paradise
I'm so damn bored I'm going blind
and I smell like shit"

Masturbation, Weed, being lazy and Bass Guitar are more awesome than ever in that song.

And Ausi20, opinions do matter. I think you went a bit tooo far with that comment.
