Oh, and in case you forgot, pre-ordering will also net you a slick Tenacious D guitar for use in multiplayer. I was already sold on Brütal Legend before today, but the creature designs and album cover-inspired worlds shown during the EA gamescom conference really stood out. I need this game!

That's certainly your opinion, but for me this is one of maybe three games that are coming out this fall that I actually will be buying. I can't wait for it.
I hate the preorder for a demo idea, but I still want it.

Besides, this isn't the first time. They pulled this for preordering Infamous as well. I preordered and played the demo early, and thoroughly enjoyed it; won't be any different with this game.
