Now this is a game that's been waiting in the wings for quite some time. Level-5's PS3-exclusive RPG, White Knight Chronicles, has been patiently tapping its feet for ages, waiting to tell the world more about itself. Looks like E3 is finally its time to shine, with a brand new trailer squeaked out just a few days before the show.

The game is being billed as the first truly online-enabled RPG for the PS3, and it sounds very promising indeed. The trailer looks like it has a few worrying clichés, most notably the classic boy-hero who appears to be fulfilling his destiny, but it looks pretty and the music is suitably rousing.

If the promise of a "unique" turn-based system and "robust" online play holds water, it could be a good one. Level-5 is a well regarded dev, so it's safe to say the game's in good hands. We'll have to wait and see however, because it's going to take a really good game to stop me feeling burned out on a genre that's been treading water for far too long.

Hit the jump for the trailer. Hopefully we get to see much more at E3.

Very nice. Gotta say, I like the voice acting for it. Not saying it's the greatest of voice acting, but its decent at the very least.

After Rogue Galaxy, I'll have to rent this first. I'm not going to buy another mediocre RPG with decent battle system but the story is a drawn-out mess. Sorry Level 5, hire someone who can scribe a good story.

The trailer is great! I love the character design.
The voice acting is good too but I hope it has dual voice.

It's Level-5. That's more than enough info for me.

@Chocobo Knight

What? Rogue Galaxy is a great game. I'd say: After Rogue Galaxy, I'll buy it day one!.

@Takeshi - Unfortunately, I can't agree. I enjoyed the beginning, but it just felt like I had to drag myself through the very end of the game. The characters were varied, yet it felt that they never looked too deep into their backstories. I wasn't expecting originality. I just wanted a tighter story that didn't felt so needlessly drawn out.

Come to think of it, Dark Cloud 2's story was kind of boring, but it didn't feel like so much baggage that Rogue Galaxy sadly ended up as in my case.

I haven't heard a lot of good about White Knight Chronicles' story either. Since it's meant to be MMO-like, I'll continue to hold it at rental for now. I simply won't get my hopes up and perhaps I'll be eating these words. :)

I don't know... I was initially hyped for this, but I've kinda lost hope. I hate mmo combat systems, which it looks like this plays on, and the graphics don't look that great. Also, I've never really gotten into anything by Level 5...

The CGI looks great. The game itself looks okay for this generation, but not great. I really hate the lack of mouth movement matching up with the voice overs. Dunno, just annoys the hell outta me.
