Pre-E3 09: Square Enix is showing off a ton of games photo

Square Enix are bringing a huge sack of games to this year's E3, enough to thrill any fan waiting for more from the RPG publisher. Among this year's selections are Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Front Mission Evolved, Final Fantasy XIII, Order of War, Supreme Commander 2, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers and My Life As A Darklord, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, and Nier. In other words, more games than I even have time to write about in the chaos that is E3. There's worse problems to have, I guess.

I've spent some time with the Japanese import of Dissidia already, but I'm excited to give the English language version a spin. I also know close to to nothing about Nier. And I won't lie -- this is going to be the closest I've gotten to Final Fantasy XIII so far. Just the prospect makes my mouth water.

Huh, awesome. I thought I heard hearing on this site that Square has gonna limit their appearance because they were jumping on the OMFG SWINE FLU bandwagon.

Wow wtf my grammar in my post was horrible, my bad.

Anyway I'm most interested in FFIV The After Years. As a Square SNES era fanboy I've always wanted them to make something new about those games, hope it turns out well.

OMG Rinoa! I <3 <3 <3 FFVIII!!! Thank you for that image, my heart stirred within me.

I'm very excited about FFIV: The After Years. I hope it is as good as the series' other true sequel, FFX-2.

You know I don't see anything really different coming out of Square Enix these days. I haven't decided yet if that's a good thing or bad thing.

And I bet over 50% of those titles will be shown only in a closed theater that prohibits any cameras, for no reason other than to keep quiet the fact that every "new" trailer for big games like FFXIII is just the old one with five seconds of additional footage added in. You'd think that Square would want to hype their games more by actually releasing those trailers once they're done, not waiting a year before releasing the very first one to the general public and saying "oh, that's from a very outdated build, the game doesn't look much like that anymore, go to an event to see our new trailer." Sigh.

@ pedrovay2003

Seeing as 358/2 Days is just coming out in fall 2009, I doubt we'll see Birth by Sleep before 2010.

I hate FF8's opening so much. It embodies everything I've come to despise about Square-Enix: self-fellatio-like arrogance and egotistical artistic impositions. I hope they don't milk FFIV as much as they did FFVII... Fan service is one thing, butchering full-cycled tales is another. Tales of Symphonia 2 is still bringing me facepalms whenever I see it. Not that the games aren't good, they just shouldn't be, given that there was little to no room to expand the initial premise. Either way, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 is a bad name, Supreme Commander 2 will rape my video card, Chrystal Bearers might be fun and, while XIII will probably be awesome, I just don't have anymore what it takes to jump on the JRPG wagon. Too lengthy. Except for Breath of Fire. One could always make room to a weredragon. But Capcom has just given up on the series. IV was a little meh and Dragon Quarter was awful. Maybe it's better that way.

So far Squeenix is the publisher i'm paying more attention at E3(as always), hope they blow our minds there.

PS: Square Enix and Microsoft, just saying it makes my guts warm.
