Pre-E3 09: Snack on this Dead Rising 2 trailer photo

Dead Rising 2 is likely to be among the hottest third party titles at this year's E3, and a trailer for the game has staggered onto the Internet ahead of the show for our own sick and twisted amusement. If you like zombies, you'll like this video. Since only idiots and rapists dislike zombies, you should all like the video.

It doesn't show off anything about the game itself, but the video doesn't really need to. It's safe to say that Dead Rising's fans are already sold on the game, so just kick back and allow the zombie-themed fun to tantalize you with the promise of braining undead gits with a roullette wheel. Hit the jump to watch this thing.

Seeing as the "Japanese-attempt-to-do-a-Western-game-ness" of the original is one of my favorite things about the original, knowing that this sequel is coming from a Western developer has me a bit worried.

Still, so far so good with these teaser trailers. The moose head from the other trailer was freaking genius.

Needs more Frank West.

Also this game seems to feel differently than the first for some reason, which isn't a great thing since the first game is probably in my top 10 games.

@kefka
That "reason" is because Western developers are handling the game this time, as opposed to Eastern ones.

Also, I liked Frank, but this guy has the potential to be much more than a walking stereotype. I think character-wise, he'll top Frank and his hideous nose.

Isn't Dead Rising 2 going to be a no-show at E3 because of Swine Flu concerns?

Is it bad that I expected the zombies to all break into the "Thriller" dance?

@Jon: I'm not that worried, to be honest. Everyone working on the game should have a fairly good idea of what the original team was going for. It's just pure over the top zombie killing fun, and they've already looked to make it like that with the inclusion of chainsaws on a motorbike, a moosehead that you run around and headbutt enemies with, and the dual chainsaw staff. It's looking to be more of the same and I'm stoked.

@Magnalon

But this is Dead Rising, a game about killing thousands of zombies with what ever you want, it's not Citizen Kane. I don't want a deep or unique character for this kinda game, I just want someone fun and Frank was definitely fun (he was a HARD EDGED PHOTOJOURNALIST WHO'S COVERED WARS AWWH YEAH)

If I want character fully dimensional that growth through the course of the game there plenty of things I can go play, if I'm gonna go chop up zombies while running around in a suit with a servbot head on, I want Frank West.

Mighty Pinto: I thought the exact same thing.

I was disappointed.

I'm just not feeling it. The first had that whole Japanese quirkiness to it, however little that really added to it. And believe me I'm no weeaboo, I'm usually the one to defend western devs against the east. This one just seems so plain like they're making it into a big action movie. And I absolutely HATED the rock music in the first trailer, ruined the feeling.

I don't think the west is going to pull through with this one but then again not much has been revealed yet so there's still hope

Needs more WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL HE AIN'T MY BOY BUT THE BROTHER IS HEAVAY

This is Vegas, I expect to see some nude or at least topless female zombies. After all Vegas has tons of strippers and hookers, so it needs to happen just for the sake of realism....DON'T QUESTION THE REALISM COMMENT! Just make it happen!

It seems that they're just trying to make it a " Oh look, a big crowd of zombies, better get my chainsaw" kind of game. Which is NOT what dead rising 1 was all about.

I'm pretty sure Punch Out on the Wii was made by a Western company and it turned out pretty good. So I wouldn't worry about Dead Rising 2 either.
