Pre-E3 09: Silent Hill Wii makes me cream my pants in fear photo

Children are creepy. That's a guaranteed rule of horror. Add a little distortion, make them sound really innocent, and bam! You've got an instant success for horror. We've already heard about how the game control from Hamza's preview, as well as Tom Hulett's words from Colette's interview with him, but now we're finally getting a chance to see the game in motion.

Looking at this re-imagining in motion, which you can see after the jump, I'm really impressed with how the game is going to look and sound. It's certainly got all the feeling of a Silent Hill title, and with Hamza's preview, it feels like they're making a few changes that should really take the franchise in a nice direction, at least for the Wii.

I swear, I will go and rob Jim's house if he gets the review copy for this game.

Looks like a PS2 game. It is being ported to the Wii and PSP so it makes sense, but it also makes it look damn ugly.

Due to the small size of the image and the fact that I have all the lights on, that didn't creep me out.

But that doesn't stop me from being excited as hell for it! :D

This looks horrible, and goes against most everything that made the first few games so great, mainly graphics and atmosphere. You know its bad when even the pre rendered scenes look like shit.

I don't see how this could take away from the original. As long it stays faithful gameplay wise, then any kind of graphical improvement, in my book anyways, would appear to be beneficial.

Disregard that last comment, just replace "original" with "series". I'm drunk, high, and geeked at the moment. My brain is running on a slightly lower level than usual.

Those are in-game shots right? If so, they look downright amazing...for a Wii game. Then again, the Silent Hill series was pretty good visually. I mean look at SH2, it came out when most PS2 games were barely looking better than the PS1 ones.

So this + Darkside Chronicles + that Ju-on game + Dead Space Extraction...well, I have my Wii quota for this year filled already. Now if only MS and Sony would get some decent horror games unveiled soon. Where's Alan Wake MS?! Dead Space 2 please!

Wow, was the ice thing in the original one? I'm seriously looking forward to this.

As for everyone saying this looks like shit, especially compared to the original, just remember that the original was on the PS1. Almost every 3D PS1 game looked like shit. This actually looks pretty good for what it is.

The graphics are pretty mediocre. And the guy should ditch the glasses, seriously, doesn't suit him at all. Darn the <insert console affiliation>bots.

I cannot wait for this game. I don't really know what else to say, most of my brain is being used to want this game.

I remember this one time a couple of years back, I wanted to completely geek out and play the silent hill games in order - but I just couldn't choke down the shitty PS1 graphics from 3d acceleration's ugly adolescent phase. I thought: Someone should remake this shit! I'm fucking psyched, even if it's not the same game. Close enough, i say!

Those are mediocre graphics??? Really? Seriously? I mean shit, it's obviously not super hi-res or hi-poly, but it looks plenty decent, especially given the system it's on. I'm interested, if I ever get a Wii for $5 or something.

How does this look bad?! The facial animations are actually pretty good, animation in general looks good really. They've hardly shown any gameplay (everything is in-engine, but no running from monsters and puzzle solving) It will obviously be cooler to experience the world changing around you in real time than just seeing it in a trailer. I'm pretty pumped for this game.

hmm. I dont think those scenes were prerendered. if they are indeed in-engine, I really have to give them credit for the facial animation, mo-cap and lip syncing work. its the shame the creature and world design will probably be ultra-generic.

I find it funny that a few are complaining how bad it looks, but act as if Silent Hill for the PSX looked good. I guess for the time and hardware, sure. But now, it hurts to look at it. This is leagues beyond that. It in-game scenese, and why wouldn't it. How many developers still use CG. I was really surprised at how good the animation for the characters were, as many of you already said. Its smooth and no jerky. Although the deformation of the landscape seemed a bit rigid when it changed to ice. I would like too see more of that on a larger image to cast my comments better.
