Sure, technically this is a hockey game. But really, they admit in the trailer: the first thing they want you to know about is the all new fighting engine. Sure, there's other things, like hitting a hockey puck, checking people, and the like, but in the end, it all comes down to taking off the skates and cuttin' a b*tch.
But I guess that isn't allowed in "traditional" hockey.
NHL 10 has a new physics engine for bashing up against the boards, allowing for players to get all tangled up, and an intimidation factor: the more you hound someone, the worse their performance will be. So EA Canada is focusing on making the play much more realistic, tweaking things here or there for this rendition of the series.
Personally, I can't wait until they escalate the combat in the game to Gundam fight matches. I can't wait to see Grizzly Gundam make an appearance. Perhaps he does. The only way you can find out is by checking the trailer after the jump.

I am so pumped for this game! I really hope that they change the camera in BAP mode as it became infuriating for me.

man replays are gonna be soooo good. with more checking and fighting physics slow mo boardings are gonna be hard to watch.
