In my opinion, the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game sucked so hard that Hoover should be researching ways to incorporate it into its vacuum cleaners. I've seen prostitutes in Tijuana who would go green with envy at the sight of it. That thing put collapsed stars to shame.
That said, I'm a huge fan of these types of games and feel that the first in the series was just a error. An egregious, horrible mistake. But if the plan is for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 to follow the events of the "Civil War" story arc, my interest is seriously piqued. Just, please, let's not screw this up a second time.
Check out a trailer after the jump. It shows off a ton of great-looking superhero cutscene footage, including a lot of Deadpool. Oh, and you get to see all-American Steve Rogers wipe the smug grin off that arrogant prick Tony Stark. That right there is practically worth the price of admission.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm pretty sure other Dtoiders are going to take care of that last part for me.
He's a well-intentioned fool who lets his superior intellect convince him that he's a superior man. I absolutely love him. And he deserves to have his block knocked off every now and then.
I actually wasn't expecting such a well thought out answer to a newbie such as myself (I think I may be coming to love Destructoid) Kudos to you good sir! Kudos to you all!
Will Daredevil be in it despite Daniel Rand (Iron Fist) assuming the mantle during Civil War?
(Typo in the second paragraph, first setence: "an error".)
Why? Because people would bitch if they didn't get to play as folks like Hulk or Thor in a game called Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I know I'd probably bitch if Deadpool weren't in it.
It will be nice to kick Cap's ass. That dude gets fucking psychotic (not to mention a total jackass) over the course of Civil War, and smacking some sense into him will be nice.
Also, they should add a multiplayer modus where people can fight each other as heroes.
Soooooo...you're a fan of the genre, but you think Ultimate Alliance sucked that bad? Didn't it do everything an Action RPG is supposed to do? You know, you run around, beat people up and level up now and then? Could you expound upon what you hated about it?
I'm not a HUGE fan of the first, but I did like it. The one glaring flaw I found was the awful, awful writing. Just horrid.
The story was completely uninteresting to me and it dragged on waaaaaaaay too long. And then it was suddenly over, which was somehow terrible too. They had the game run forever and then didn't payoff with anything that made it feel as though your time was well spent.
Seriously, where these games are concerned, I would rather play Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel a dozen times before playing MUA again.
At least, I -think- that's Mac Gargan. I could be wrong. I never read Civil War, so I dunno which Venom was involved. All I know is that Eddie Brock rejects Venom and becomes Anti-Venom in the process.
