In my opinion, the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game sucked so hard that Hoover should be researching ways to incorporate it into its vacuum cleaners. I've seen prostitutes in Tijuana who would go green with envy at the sight of it. That thing put collapsed stars to shame.

That said, I'm a huge fan of these types of games and feel that the first in the series was just a error. An egregious, horrible mistake. But if the plan is for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 to follow the events of the "Civil War" story arc, my interest is seriously piqued. Just, please, let's not screw this up a second time.

Check out a trailer after the jump. It shows off a ton of great-looking superhero cutscene footage, including a lot of Deadpool. Oh, and you get to see all-American Steve Rogers wipe the smug grin off that arrogant prick Tony Stark. That right there is practically worth the price of admission.

Venom looks insanely detailed, moreso than I recall seeing him in other video games so that's a plus. Everything else looks so fantastic, but there's the whole "looks being deceiving" mantra that gets thrown around, but I have a strong belief in this one. Also, an inserted comment about how Deadpool is awesome and whatnot.

I'm pretty sure other Dtoiders are going to take care of that last part for me.

I recognized a scene or two from the comics. Glad that they're at least mostly sticking to it. I liked the first one to play though it one and a half times despite the Wii's broken controls. Now that I've got a 360 I'm even more wanting this.

@GoldenGamerXero: I think Iron Man is a brilliant character. He's an incredibly flawed individual, which is what makes him so compelling. He's an overconfident, arrogant egomaniac who, once deciding on a course of action, often blinds himself to potential consequences. He is so utterly convinced that what he is doing is right that he frequently fails to realize the harm he is causing to the world until the damage is already done.

He's a well-intentioned fool who lets his superior intellect convince him that he's a superior man. I absolutely love him. And he deserves to have his block knocked off every now and then.

C'mon the first game didn't suck THAT hard. Anyway this looks awesome if it's just as good as any of the X-men Legends game then I want it.

All of the screens show and videos show a wide camera angle instead of the old overhead. If this happens, I'll rejoice since the camera system used in the X-Men Legends games and Ultimate Alliance was broken. I got motion sick playing UA thanks to the constant spinning of the camera.

Will Daredevil be in it despite Daniel Rand (Iron Fist) assuming the mantle during Civil War?

I really liked the first Marvel Alliance. If anything it suffered from not bringing anything new to the dance. On the bright side come on Fin Fang Foom, the Masters of Evil, whats not to love. After you play eight or so dungeon crawlers its hard to be shocked but I still like em. To the poster how said Thor was not in the Civil War he was but it was a Clone Bot of some sort so they could get his likeness in. Anyway i will probably pick this up eventually.

It looks awesome! Was I the only one who laughed when Cap tricked Iron Man? That's was fucking funny!

Oh my, if they can keep the playability smooth and the graphics as sweet as the trailer, it'll be a hit. I'm in.

@Shael- The game isn't claiming to be the "Marvel Civil War" game. Besides, while certain characters are defaulting to one side or another, the vast majority of the cast goes where you want 'em to regardless of what side they chose or whether or not they actually participated in Civil War.
Why? Because people would bitch if they didn't get to play as folks like Hulk or Thor in a game called Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I know I'd probably bitch if Deadpool weren't in it.

I love superheroes but I can't get over the fact that when I slash with wolverine it's as effective as a punch. Shit, I just slashed you with adamantium claws, you should get alittle scratch - not a bruise. By-golly your whole arm should fall off wtf. No blood kills it for me

Juggernaut is going to KILL EVERYBODY. I hope they keep things a little realistic and not let a locked door stop the most powerful heroes from advancing.

Wow, I saw Hercules, which is an awesome character, and I love how the Dev's know how much we love Deadpool. I think I saw Cable in there too, so having the Deadpool Cable (or the Deadpool/daredevil fight) would be amazing. I really want this game.

I saw She-Hulk in there, and caught a brief glimpse of who I'm pretty sure was Patriot. So, Young Avengers get some representation. Nice.

It will be nice to kick Cap's ass. That dude gets fucking psychotic (not to mention a total jackass) over the course of Civil War, and smacking some sense into him will be nice.

Cap's getting psychiotic? Dude, Tony Stark probably reached the pinnacle of assholeness in Civil War. I'm looking foward to tear him a new one.
Also, they should add a multiplayer modus where people can fight each other as heroes.

@ Conrad-

Soooooo...you're a fan of the genre, but you think Ultimate Alliance sucked that bad? Didn't it do everything an Action RPG is supposed to do? You know, you run around, beat people up and level up now and then? Could you expound upon what you hated about it?

I'm not a HUGE fan of the first, but I did like it. The one glaring flaw I found was the awful, awful writing. Just horrid.

@akathatoneguy: There are a few things about Marvel Ultimate Alliance that make it a terrible example of the genre. First and foremost is the over-complexity of it. An action beat-em-up should be very simple to play. While I like customization options in terms of leveling characters and giving them new moves, the team-based experience system was taking things entirely too far.

The story was completely uninteresting to me and it dragged on waaaaaaaay too long. And then it was suddenly over, which was somehow terrible too. They had the game run forever and then didn't payoff with anything that made it feel as though your time was well spent.

Seriously, where these games are concerned, I would rather play Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel a dozen times before playing MUA again.

I haven't read Civil War so I may be wrong, but is Galactus ninvolved in that series? How the hell do they plan to work in the first games ending?

To those wondering about Venom's different design, that's because it's no longer Eddie Brock. He's Mac Gargan, the Scorpion. The difference is the white bands on his arms and the exposed human eyes.

At least, I -think- that's Mac Gargan. I could be wrong. I never read Civil War, so I dunno which Venom was involved. All I know is that Eddie Brock rejects Venom and becomes Anti-Venom in the process.
