Where there is Koei, there is Sterling, and I shall indeed be there when Koei announces Warriors: Legends of Troy. There is no gameplay synopsis, but judging by the title, could Omega Force be taking the Dynasty Warriors hack n' slash formula and taking it to the famous battle of Troy? If so, I will be all up in that sh*t, fool. Dat be mah jam.
Koei will also be showing off Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll, its PS3-exclusive RPG that promises a more mature and dark experience than your average emo-flavored Japanese roleplayer. In addition to that, the Pokémon-style Monster Racers for DS will be shown, along with Warriors Orochi 2 for the PSP.
I've been waiting for the Warriors series of games to leave Asia alone for a while, so if Legends of Troy is what I think it is, it shall be exciting times ahead. Well, for me anyway. Screw the rest of you, quite frankly.

TRINITY: Souls of Zill O'll™ - For years, Omega Force has transcended the action genre to create one of video gaming's most legendary franchises. Now they will unleash their imaginations on the realm of fantasy with the upcoming TRINITY: Souls of Zill O'll.
Warriors: Legends of Troy™ - Three thousand years ago, a poet sang of heroes strong enough to stand alone against an army. For love, they sailed the world. For family, they made the greatest sacrifices. For honor, they stood and faced the will of gods, and fought a war which shook the earth...
Monster Racers™ - Monster Racers for the Nintendo DS™ will take you on a quest around the globe in search of monsters to train, nurture, and race. For the first time in the genre, your skill in controlling your monster will be a key factor to winning each challenge. Races are filled with obstacles that will test your skills in controlling speed, jumping ability, and reaction time. By combining real-time racing, platform-style action, and role-playing with the fun of monster collecting, KOEI is bringing to life a colorful and unforgettable world where everyone can be a champion. This product is rated "E" (Everyone) by the ESRB.
WARRIORS OROCHI®2 - The best-selling DYNASTY WARRIORS® and SAMURAI WARRIORS® crossover comes to the PSP®(PlayStation® Portable) system with continuing storylines. WARRIORS OROCHI 2 features three new game modes: Dream, VS and Survival, plus VS mode "Tag Team"-style matches that pit fighters in deadly head-to-head combat! New features for the PSP include 96 playable characters, 2-Player VS and Co-op and new scenarios. This game is rated "T" (Teen - Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence) by the ESRB.
Warriors Orochi 2 on the 360 has awful frame rate issues, I don't see how they can get it to run nicely on the PSP but if they manage it then good times shall be had.
And news of another Warriors game is always a welcome sight to my eyes. I'm just amazed it's taken them this long to (probably) get out of Asia with the Warriors games, it's not like Europe is sparse on medieval warfare.
The first WO on PSP ran beautifully, and I believe WO2 also ran smoothly on PS2, so the PSP version won't be a problem at all. The horrible 360 framerate was a 360-exclusive problem and nobody at Koei seems to know how or why it happened. They patched it, which fixed it a little bit.
Anyway, I have a feeling WO2 on PSP will be the best version, like the original WO PSP was.
I'm relatively certain they fixed the framerate issues on WO2 on 360 with a patch... I'll never check because I just want Warriors Orochi Z now though.
Ancient Greek Warriors would be interesting I guess, but I worry about the lack of variety in weapons from that. Could be cool to see how they implement the gods involvement in all of it though.
Eh, even post-patch my WO2 still lags appallingly. Oh well, this gives me a nice excuse to finally buy a PSP!
I don't see a lack of weapons being a problem. DW has the most fabulous man in the world slashing people up with wolverine claws as was the norm in ancient China, SW has a girl killing scores of men with a child's ball and cup game and in WO a stiff kick to the groin does more damage than a blow from a giant axe. I'm sure in this they'll manage to crowbar in a couple of paper fans and an angry badger for all your comedic Achaean-killing desires.
Yeah but you can put any weapon on ancient Chinese warriors and it seems appropriate. Somehow I can't imagine a Greek general running around with tonfa, but I'm sure Koei will find some way to do it...
Sounds sweet, but I have to say I was hoping they'd be taking the formula to medieval Europe instead. Bladestorm doesn't count. But then again I suppose the Kingdom Under Fire games did that already.
I wonder how it'll go, but honestly, as long as they keep to a good formula and all, I can't complain.
And then in about another 10 years, we'll see another hyper crossover game with Greeks, Chinese, Japanese, people-sized Gundams, and whatever else they throw at us.
Yeah it does sound pretty promising, i mean there's quite a big roster of heroes that participated in the whole troy thing. And you never know they might just jam some people in there that had nothing to do with it at all like hercules or something.
Actually, come to think of it, a DW: Mythologies wouldn't be a bad series either. I mean, I couldn't hammer down the details, but imagine playing as the deities and other notable figures of mythology around the world? This might be a first step towards that. :O
And yeah, unangbangkay hit the nail on the head. "Invincible" Achilles would definitely be the series' Lu Bu. XD
