That might be a bit of an exaggeration. There's been some pretty horrendous VO work in the past (I'm looking at you, Capcom). But if they gave awards for worst vocal performance in a videogame, Dante's Inferno is currently on my shortlist for 2009 after this teaser. And it's just a taste of what is apparently a larger trailer -- called "Lust and Heresy" -- that will be coming down the pipe on the first of June.
It does look very pretty, though. I'm interested to see gameplay. I am determined to give the game an even shake, even if I think that the way they've twisted the original work is a crime against humanity. It will be difficult to keep my inner literary nerd in check but I'm willing to forgive a lot if a game is fun.
But, man, that voice work is horrendous. Hit the jump to see what I mean.

i just started RE for my DS though, so maybe i'm a little jaded.
I mean, at least they're not blathering on about being the "master of unlocking."
But I'm willing to let this game strut its stuff before I judge it. God of War + Dead Space devs = intriguing, to say the least.

That was horrible. So horrible.
There's hardly enough voice acting in this clip to judge, and what's there is passable.
How generic can those lines be. "You'll never get the girl Dante!" vs. "Your soul will sooner burn before you lay a finger on her again."
