Prat uses PS3 to get kiddy porn, then distributes it like a moron photo

A man from Kentucky has been arrested after convincing an 11-year-old girl to send nude photos of herself via Sony's black box o' Blu-ray. In a world before Killzone 2, we could have made a clever joke about how PS3 fans have no games to play, so are resorting to sending each other kiddy porn. Unfortunately, we cannot make that hilarious gag.

Anthony Scott Oshea of Somerset, Kentucky has been charged with three felony counts, including promotion of child pornography and online solicitation of a minor, after not only downloading the images to his PS3, but then using the console to distribute the pictures to people in at least five different states. Pedophiles are not very clever, in case you haven't noticed.

Parents really do need to keep a close eye on their children when the Internet is involved. The very fact that an 11-year-old girl was allowed access to an online PS3 is worrying enough as it is, let alone the idea that she was able to take and send nude photos of herself. It's all very well for parents to sit back and demand that the games industry shows responsiblility for children, but that's not a free pass for those parents to demonstrate no care whatsoever.

Holy crap, I'm surprised that he was actually able to convice the girl and get his hands on such illict photos before getting arrested. Usually they arrested before they manage to convince anyone. I wonder what game she was playing online that led to the even of meeting this fellow.

I'm impressed an 11 year old could show that kind of ingenuity. Albeit misplaced. Kids are soooo advanced these days. Tsk.

But yeah eh... truly awful.

There once was a man from Kentucky,
Whose PS3 playing did sucky,
So he used a few tricks,
To get hold of some pics,
In prison he won't be so lucky.

things we shall never know.

I wonder how they caught on? Think it was one of the people that the man sent it out to?

Also, just distrubing.

ummm who is letting their 11 year old girl play killzone 2? isn't it an "m" rated game?

@whormongr

i am actually tired how many kids ae playing a lot of M-rated games and even parent approved.

I mean, even the parents play with him in multiplayer as if it was fucking Mario Kart, it sickens me that they do not even think about restricting it for being too violent or even inappropriate.

I witnessed a fine example on the console arcade I usually hang out (yeah, an arcade with consoles), and I was expecting the two 4-year-old kids and father to play something on the Wii like Mario Kart or WiiSports, but they went for Gears of War 2 on co-op and.. its more funny than awkward actually, you see the MANLY FUCKING DUDES WITH GUN CHAINSAW AND RAAAARRGRG TESTOSTERONE being controlled by the teensy-weensy little goobers.

i think its not only an issue about parents controlling what their kids play, its also what the other companies as Sony and Microsoft have to offer, whic both of them are mainly targeted to the Mature audience. I think they should make something more dedicated to kids aside Viva Piñata and LittleBigPlanet. I wish Crash Bandiccot and Spyro the Dragon werent prostituted away to Sierra so they could stay further on the PS2 and PS3.

Well, at least we still do have Ratchet & Clank...

Wow. No one is noticing the severe LACK of parenting in this situation? (Other than Jim). Honestly, I know that you can't watch your kid all the time, but I recall as a child my parents kept certian things out of my reach... It's just like statutory rape. A 17 year old girl seduces a weak and lonely 25-30 year old man, He goes to prison, she gets no punishment whatsoever. She doesn't have to pay the price, therefore, she learns nothing. Other than she can send a man to prison by doing a simple little task of lying. In this instance I believe that the parents of the 11 year old should be investigated, and perhaps the girl should go into foster care. Obviously the parental figures are completely absent in this situation, and obviously they don't have what it takes to pay attention to what their kid is doing.

The game system is not a babysitter. And it's not Sony's fault. Parental Supervision is a wonderful phrase. Try using it sometime, rather than letting your PlayStation or Xbox keep watch over your kids.

I've often wondered why the PS3 doesn't have a password lock on it.. Maybe it's time for some more security features on these things?

@Monodi-
I know it goes on, but I think it is showing a severe lack of parenting skills in this case and it's no wonder that someone took advantage of it- when I have a kid (somewhere in the next few years- $ permitting) they aren't playing the mature driven titles till they are older- period- and I am not a conservative guy, but when you have kids that don't understand the gravity of the material they shouldn't be consumers of it. granted I am not a hard and fast "18" rule person, but 11 is too young for a game like that

So some parents taught their daughter how to use a camera, upload pictures, and how to transfer files via the Internet but never once said "you know honey, don't upload naked pictures of yourself to random weirdos"?

Well I don't have anything against people doing whatever the fuck they want with what they own. I think I am very conservative when its about this industry because I want the ratings to be taken seriously so politicians do not go boar-shit all over any violent/stupid/pedophiliac act.

Parenting. If people had kids because they wanted to further their legacy they would bring them up properly and teach them not to send photo's of their bee-sting boobs to people over the internet.

They don't. People have kids to either get a nicer house on the welfare, or because they are too fucking stupid to use contraception and to fucking righteous to have an abortion.

These people don't deserve kids. Period. It's not a right, when the safety of your kids is our problem it's the publics "right" to not allow unfit parents to become parents.

Parenting licenses all the way!

Yes. Internet on a console is EVIL and the Devil's Work. Now 360 owners can stop asking for it because there is now a legit reason for them to say NO!
