Poseable figure of Persona 3's Aegis is on the way photo

You know, when you tool around toy websites all day looking for the latest and greatest, I hate to say it, but you get accustomed to looking at toys and reacting a little bit less ... intensely? I love my collection, but I buy a lot less than I used to. Something really has to jam my buttons for me to really flip out when I see it.

That being said, when I went over to Figma blog this morning, I choked on my tea and nearly spit it all over the computer monitor. Sure, I'm really wanting more Persona 4 figures, but shit, I will most definitely take an Aegis Figma if I can't have those.

According to Figma blog, this one is being made due to tons of fan requests. She comes with a few different faces and rocket fish accessories, in addition to the usual plentiful supply of hands that all Figmas come with. We don't know release date or pricing yet, but the blog says more details will be coming soon. I will preorder this with the ferocity of a thousand suns the moment she is available. What about you?

@blackdove

Both are valid spellings and pronunciations.

I prefer Aegis, though

I will also preorder this.

No, one is valid as the original, the other is valid as the pig disgusting translation-copy adjusted to American audiences.

There's a reason she's referred to as "Aigis" all over that page in the main text.

THE TENETS OF GLORIOUS NIPPON SHALL BE PRESERVED (this topic is serious business).

One for the office. One for home.

Also, it's Aigis.

I would assume that Aegis is Aigis in the Localised version because Aegis is a real word in English. ( I don't know Japanese, but I would assume it isn't a word in Japanese), and Aigis isn't, and sounds more robotic to us.

Much like Final Fantasy 6, Tina becomes Terra because to the Japanese, Tina is an exotic sounding name. To us, It's normal. Terra, however, is exotic to us (Thanks Woolsey!). The Name Terra also ties in Celes.

We all know that somewhere, out there, somebody is going to buy this figure for the sole purpose of spewing his man milk all over it.

@Aurain

Since a lot of folks don't know that Aigis is an alternative spelling for Aegis (the mythical shield of Athenia), "Aigis" sounds nonsensical. Atlus originally made the decision to go by the kana pronunciation, but for the record I think Aegis sounds WAY more robotic. I've never encountered a person with that name, but I can think of a hell of a lot of sci-fi or fantasy terms that would use it or would be appropriate.

In any case, they're both the same thing, so it comes down to preference.

Aegis. Aigis. Either way, she was my least fave character in the game. For some reason, I could accept a bunch of students fighting off demons in an alternate dimension on a school night. I could even accept a dog doing implausible spinning attacks with a knife in his mouth, but I just couldn't accept a fully functioning android that was built in the late 90's.

You're trying to preserve the original spelling, right? I think you have it reversed -- In the Japanese version, it's Aegis. Aigis is the U.S.-translated version.

I just went to Destructoid and I JIZZED IN MY PANTS.

I still think the Alter figure is better looking, but not owning that, this shall be a suitable substitute.

Also, I hate you Vanilla Gorilla. Your idea just doubled my expected expenditures on this.
