Portal 2: Need we say more? photo

Everybody should know about last year's critically acclaimed Portal by now, and if you don't, then just get the HELL out of our Internet and let the real people interact with each other, okay? Now that we've separated the human beings from the wretched failures, it's time for us to talk. Gather close, sit ye down and listen to the word of righteousness.

Portal 2 has been confirmed by Valve.

Now, as the collective semen of a thousand excited gamers launches through the air like a liquid volley of silken arrows, I must remind you that any idiot could have seen this coming a mile away -- Valve already talked of more Portal, and the first one was too successful to not be continued. This is the first solid confirmation of an official Portal 2, however, as specified by lead designer Kimberly Swift.

The world now holds its breath for further details, but knowing Valve, most of us will be dead of oxygen deprivation to the brain before we hear more. Until then, rejoice! The twisted world of Aperture Science looks set to suck us in once again, and we couldn't be happier.

This is good news for a good game. But please, DON'T call it Portal 2...

Dryvby: You'd have a point if Portal cost $60. However, it doesn't.

If Portal 2 is standalone, it won't be three hours long either.

I wonder if it will be $60 or is there a chance it could be packaged together with HL Ep: 3?

Look at me still commenting when there's science to be done...

Yes, but that's just how things work. It's $20 on the PC, so if anything, it would be $30 on the 360. $10 more for some reason.

I'd go with the HL EP:3 and Portal 2 pack in theory

OH BOY!! Enjoy it, guys. I'll probably be in my grave when it gets released.

But seriously, GLaDOS had better be the antagonist again. I can't imagine they'd drop her. She IS Portal, as far as I'm concerned.

And they better not go overboard with "CAKE LOL" and "COMPANION CUBE ROFL" humor. I'll strangle every last one of you fuckers that quote Poral endlessly.

Although, "Have your cake and eat it, too." would be a bitchin' tagline.

@ajay42: Yeah, except LOST has been fucking awesome since late Season 3, with little/no filler since. And blame ABC for the filler, not the writers. ABC was just trying to milk the show for all its worth, and the writers were forced to tapdance. Damon Lindelof is fairly outspoken about his distaste of the filler. </LOST DEFENSE FORCE ROFL>

I'd rather they involved the portal gun in Episode 3. Can you imagine how awesome it would be to combine the portal gun and hordes of Combine?

I'm late, etc.

But, Portal sucked.

@ajay42

It has nothing to do with forced length. I felt the game was not a good puzzle game. Portal is what I would call a "casual game". It's trully something I would have expected to come out of PopCap and not Valve.

It also didn't have "characters". It had another faceless hero and a snarky computer antagonist that added nothing to the game, except to exist as a gimmick.

If this is a "game as art" game, then I think we have a long way to go.
