@liddokun: Just because someone was able to afford a PS3 at one point, does not mean they can just go out and spend an equal amount of money on other devices/systems. Generally, people who live out of home and work a job have budgets; there are bills to pay, there is food to buy, necessities to necessitate, and so on. Not all money can be spent on leisure.
First non ps3 exclusive I'll be getting for ps3. I always choose the 360 version if it's available normally.

Are we seriously already using the "PSN full of hackers" line? Seriously? Despite the PS3 only being broken into like LAST WEEK? In a World where the 360 has been open to hackers since about day 2, and the PC well, the PC STARTED open to hackers.
Also "PSN sucks" is pure bullshit. I use PSN, Steam and XBL, I'll tell you which one sucks, I'll give you a hint, it's the only one that costs money, but it disconnects and lags as much if not more than the others, but it does have cross game chat, as if that makes a piss poor online gaming service better.
1st - Steam (0 problems what so ever, feature packed, FREE, cloud saving and putting my games on multiple PC's / Macs FTW)
2nd - PSN (rarely any problems, lots of games with Dedicated Servers, the rare problems are acceptable when it happens as it's FREE)
3rd - XBL (I literally get weekly, if not daily disconnects, visible lag and it pains me so much to play P2P and get Host disconnect issues for Ģ40 a year!) - stop sepnding our LIVe fees on timed exclusivity deals and start spending them on DEDICATED SERVERS!
FYI: all of the above are running over my Fibre optic 50mb/s cable broadband.
So take my personal number 2 online gaming service, and link it to my personal number 1 online gaming service, and one happy Sexualchocolate you have!

I wonder if you'll be able to play PS3 and PC/Mac versions at the same time? Like you know how when you leave the PC at home signed into Steam, you have to kick it off to sign in on another machine, wonder if that will be the case for PS3 too, as in will require a Steam sign in. I would imagine so.

I read this article five times. FIVE TIMES. Because I just could NOT believe what I was reading. My brother has a great gaming rig, I don't. I got a laptop a few years ago for Christmas, it was a mac and I love it, it does not have much in the way of processing power and can't really play anything.

I will be buying this game for PS3 because when my brother leaves, his computer leaves, and when he leaves, I still have my PS3 with steamworks support, the ability to play with my Steam Friends, my PSN friends, and getting the PC/Mac version for free.
Valve just keeps blowing me away with stuff like that. And honestly, if they announce HL3 this year... I might have an aneurysm from the brain melt they cause. And if they do anything for that like they're doing for this, if I survive the aneurysm, well my heart will just fsking explode.

The fact that Xbox has cross game chat though, puts it way ahead of PSN in my eyes. It makes it much easier to talk with friends, set up games, and remain talking to each other, even when one of you gets booted from the game or something.
If PSN free got cross game chat, I think Microsoft would have to reconsider their pricing structure.
However, on topic with this. I dislike this, because my portal-loving friends are all on Xbox, and that makes me a sad panda.

If someone at Valve lingers here on Destructoid, thank you so very fucking much. I will be getting the PS3 version now... and coincidentally enough I was JUST chatting with a friend before work tonight about how cool it would be if the PS3 version supported SteamPlay. SO AWESOME.
@skribble: i know that. What i mean, is that it's fairly likely the average person has a computer capable of running decently Valve games, not that they could buy something "powerful" enough with relatively little expense. :)
wow microsoft really dropped the ball here....I know they want to be a closed system and all....but this ensures if you have a ps3 and a 360, you're most likely getting it on ps3. I wonder if other valve games and other games from other companies will slowly start taking this route....because I think this will slowly start putting the ps3 ahead. I was totally getting this on 360 (all my friends are on 360 only really), but this makes me think twice
Now I just want to know if GameStop pre-order skins will also be useable for PC/Mac from the PS3 version. Then again, do I want to pay ten bucks more for a PS3 copy? Hmm...

@Explosion2 - I will admit, my problems on XBL are more to do with the games than LIVE it's self (Black Ops dropping games, disconnecting and lagging - MoH signing out of LIVE when i start the game and only signing back in when i exit, etc) but I would agree that the gaming stability and experience on both PSN and LIVE are about equal.
However, problems are far easier to accept when you haven't had to pay to experience them, i was under the impression (from what a lot of you Dtoiders have said) that I was signing up to some kind of epic, perfect, worth-every-penny and obviously SUPERIOR online gaming network. What I got was the PSN but I had to pay for it.
Cross game chat is not worth Ģ40 a year to me. i have Skype for that.
Talking PC's being able to run Mac Games, I figure a basic Macbook, you know the 13 inch white one, wouldn't be any kind of gaming powerhouse? Right? Surely it's like a Netbook i thought, for web browsing and emails...

I just got a PS3 and this may get me to buy a boxed copy on PS3 rather than just a digital copy on Steam. A ten dollar difference may get me to skip the PS3 version since I'll probably end up just playing it on PC anyways.
Hah! Welcome to DRM on a console. So, this essentially means you can't resell your game to the store because it's locked to a steam account. Else why wouldn't I just buy it on the PC cheaper and when one of want to trade it, I buy it at an even cheaper cost then you spent?

Wait so this actually plays crossplatform? Neat. Maybe PS3 can become a ghetto console/PC hybrid, seeing as it'll have the piracy to match now ;o.

Ho-lee SHIT, this is amazing. ABSOLUTELY getting it on the PS3 now, unless that one PC controller that'll be optimized for Portal 2 ends up blowing my mind in unknown ways.
Just the idea of a fully functioning Steam icon right next to my Netflix icon on the Playstation menu gets me all hot and bothered. :)
lets hope this trend continues. playing console fps gamers with a mouse and keyboard will be fuckin hilarious.
