Tengami

Pop-up adventure Tengami is out this week for iOS

8:00 PM on 02.17.2014

It's been a bit of a wait for Tengami, that adventure game presented in the style of a Japanese pop-up book, hasn't it?

Developer Nyamyam can take a breather this week, if only for a moment -- the game hits the App Store on Thursday, February 20. It's a universal app priced at $4.99/£2.99 and requires iOS 7. You'll need either an iPhone 4, iPad 2, fifth-gen iPod, or newer device to play.

Some of us are waiting for the PC, Mac, and Wii U versions of Tengami. Those releases are still scheduled for later this summer. Also, I had somehow forgotten David Wise was responsible for the soundtrack here which, yeah, I'm not sure how that's even possible. Silly me.

Tengami delayed again on Wii U, aiming for November release

Tengami is one of those indie games that sells itself solely based on its look. As a pop-up book in motion, it's definitely one of the best looking games I've seen in some time, and it even looks great on a small iOS screen. ...more

Here's how the pop-up adventure Tengami plays

Not all point-and-click adventures force us to piece together seemingly random objects in a specific context in order to progress, but I'll always have memories of puzzle logic that even at the time didn't seem quite so logi...more

Review: Axiom Verge

It seems like a foregone conclusion when looking at Axiom Verge that comparisons are going to be made to Metroid. It is, without doubt, similar in more ways than it differs from Nintendo's iconic franchise. The differences matter, though, and Axiom Verge merges classic environment design with new mechanical twists, producing a game that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time.more
