Poor people can play Crysis too! photo

If you were worried that you and your old Dell might not be able to play the graphic-heavy Crysis, then put those fears to rest. According to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, just about everyone should be able to enjoy the game. From Next-Gen:

Yerli explains how Frankfurt-based Crytek plans to make the sharp-looking FPS Crysis accessible to a wide audience of PC gamers. "We developed almost all effects to be very scalable for different hardware specs," he says. "Fortunately this is much easier now that we can rely on the existence of hardware shaders. We believe clearly that Crysis will be enjoyed by a large audience that dates back to gamers with two- to three-year-old gaming rigs."

There see, now you don't have to sell a lung or kidney to play Crysis. Enjoy the use of all your organs.

I think the quote ended too soon. It should have read "We believe clearly that Crysis will be enjoyed by a large audience that dates back to gamers with two- to three-year-old gaming rigs that they spent over seven grand on."

ghost rider, you honestly think the fact that the game can run on the 360 is justification enough to release a console version?

It takes a hell of a lot more detailing and planning (and money!) for that.

Wow, a whole two to three years old? That certainly covers everyone.

I've never heard that from a dev before. I admire their candor.

Do you honestly think they wouldn't sell enough copies to justify a console release?

That's funny ,bc at CES I asked one of the Crysis reps about my PC- running a 8800 GTX and Vista with 4 GB RAM and 750 GB HDD if it would run solid, and he said " I'm not totally sure, you may have to tone down some of the textures a bit." ROFL, they don't even know the specs of their own game.

Sales reps rarely know specifics. They just get paid to promote the image and the name.

As for what will run this - probably Geforce 6600 minimum, 2 Ghz processor, 1GB RAM. The Geforce 5xxx series were in use 3 years ago, but they don't support DX9 (or at least not well), so I figure that rules them out.

But meh, another generic FPS. Boring, not interested.

oh i agree that there is a large investment required there but i think it would be return on that more than just having it on pc alone
