There was a cheap PS3 for a very short while last year, but that disappeared when the holidays came. I tell them that I paid $600 for mine, and they laugh harder. [pout]

Just remember that that $599 60gb PS3 is the best model available in the entire production history of the device.
That said, I'm pissed because I just got the Pro version (sans EndWar) for the regular $399 less than a month ago. :(
just go to any store and check for the [12.1] amps located right next to the bar code on the unit itself. you should be able to see them from the little windows they leave open in the boxes.
