Polish studio announces new DS FPS, C.O.R.E. photo

Independent Polish studio NoWay Studio has announced its debut title, a first-person shooter, C.O.R.E. for the Nintendo DS.

The press release (which is written in horribly hilarious English) details the story of a US Marine who is investigating a laboratory built to research the effects of a crashed meteor. This, of course, quickly goes to s**t when the marine discovers horrible atrocities and is subsequently attacked by dudes with machine guns. Oh, the life of marines in videogames.

NoWay's Lukasz Zarnowiecki is confident that they're taking the classic FPS genre to the next level with C.O.R.E..

"Thanks to [the unique features of the Nintendo DS]," he says, "we came up with an unprecedented gaming experience packed with a multitude of weapons, eerie enemies and primarily ground breaking gameplay and original story line."

I don't know what the hell any of that means, but we'll find out more later in the year when C.O.R.E. makes its debut at the Leipzig Games Convention in August.

PRESS RELEASE: NoWay Studio announces C.O.R.E.

 WARSAW, POLAND – June 27th, 2007 – NoWay Studio – a division of QubicGames dedicated to development of games for Nintendo DS today announced its debut title C.O.R.E., which advences players to the year 2050 onto the battleground set in the underground laboratory complex.

„We like to think that C.O.R.E. is a classic FPS game which we took to the next level. Our idea was to implement the advanced graphics solutions and make the maximum use of unique features offered by Nintendo DS such as dual screen and touch-screen control system. Thanks to that we came up with unprecedented gaming experience packed with a multitude of weapons, eerie enemies and primarily groundbraking gameplay and original storyline” - said Lukasz Zarnowiecki – team leader at NoWay Studio. „Furthermore a number of multiplayer modes offered will satisfy picky hardcore gamers” - he added.

Indeed C.O.R.E. tells the story of a US Marine sent to discover the mysteries behind the door of a top secret US Army lab complex built to research the effects of the meteor crash from years ago. The gruesome discoveries of the marine are empahsised by sinister interior of the complex while the heavy music escalates the ever-intensifing action and dark morbid ambience.

C.O.R.E. is scheduled to be completed in Q4 this year, while the first previews of the game will be offered to publishers and press representatives at Games Convention in Leipzig. For more information on the game please visit www.corethegame.com

One can never get enough headshots on the go.
that sounds wrong for some reason...

Hopefully the english translations(for any text..etc) won't be as bad as the press release.

Lets keep in mind the devs for Painkiller were Poles. One of the best games of 2004 IMHO.

As long as it isn't anything like Metroid on the DS I'll totally get it.

This is probably going to suck pretty hard. Hate to say it, but those wounds from Metroid and Mechassault (STFU, I know it's third-person) haven't quite closed up.

@Tempus
Mexicans work hard. They should make games. Hmmm..... I've got an idea... There are a bunch of Mexicans always waiting outside the U-Haul.... eh never mind.

Any way, FPSs can be done well. Metroid was good. Brothers in Arms wasn't an FPS, but it was extremely good. I'm still playing it actually.
