For some reason I'm excited about it to, even though I didn't even get to the first gym in White and haven't picked the game back up since the week I got it.
I'd love to be able to say to myself I'm not going to get this day 1 and actually believe it. But when I play a new pokemon game I'm suddenly 10 again and playing Blue, stumbling through a world and battling pokemanz.
The other big franchises of my childhood and early gaming years were Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil, and look how the fuck they turned out...

I bet Black in a week. It was a good time until I had to beat the Elite Four for a second time, because Nintendo thought that was enough of a plot twist. I loved it a lot until that point.
It had absolutely no replay value. If anything, we need a second Diamond & Pearl. I put over 400 hours into Diamond.

I too erased over a save file in the first batch of Pokemon games because I thought there were multiples, assuming that all games at the time included multiple save slots.
Sadly, it was on the cartridges of some kids I was babysitting, and when I realized what I'd done I felt so terrible. Fortunately they were very forgiving.

I may get this, but mostly because I didn't actually buy the original B/W.

Curious. What about B/W made it seem to have no replay value?
It seemed to me to have everything past games had and more, just with a different coat of paint. I spend most of my time, outside of training and catching them all, taking on the Battle tower and battle subway for example.

i remember my cousin got mew in pokemon red at some event then got really mad at me after i accidentally delete his save game
And just imagine what it'd do for the 3DS if it were on that, in 3D... Nintendo's seriously lacking some foresight there, no matter what their "reasons" are.
Either way though, I'm pretty excited for this too, after my return to the series with Black/White I'm seriously down for some obsessive "catch'em all" action.
