I buy new Pokemon games anyways, but for the most part, I'm looking for the third version game (or games in this case) to massively improve upon the original pair in some way these days. B/W2 at least seem to be better than B/W, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Just behind it would be new Pokemon, but it'd be pretty silly to expect those in the middle of a generation.

While the new additions are great, two things are a big sticking point to me: Lack of new pokemon, and that it's a DS game. Playing regular DS games on the 3DS is...unpleasant.
Not enough feudal Japanese warlords whom Koei has definitelty proven to be a demon-lord. I haven't played a "core" Poke-game since my copy of Blue was stolen back in high school. Still, I'm very intrigued by the Nobunaga-crossover and will probably be getting that one over B/W2.
Is there pokemon fusion in this one?

I actually prefer the installments where they don't add new pokemon. Usually when they don't have to make 150 new monsters, they can instead focus their efforts on including features that they seem to take away every main installment just to make the "platinum/emerald/crystal/yellow" versions more appealing. I'm guessing that Black 2 and White 2 will have an expanded battle frontier, near essential move tutors, better sprite animations, and maybe even the auto run button from Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

Interesting, but i think pokemon conquest is where its at. Finally, we can use pokemon as tools of war instead of cock fighting lol
What's up with that hair? I'm not sure if it's so stupid that it's awesome, or just stupid. In their sprites it looks like they have animals attached to their heads.
I'm looking more forward to Conquest than this. I'm tired of playing as a trainer, challenging gym leaders, beating the Elite Four. I was actually thinking about this earlier today. Why can't we have a new premise? Imagine a fantasy wild west in a lawless community where duels are Pokemon battles and you it's your job to restore law and order. Or a sci-fi setting where you visit planets and discover an ancient Pokemon which threaten to destroy the universe.(too Mass Effect-y?)

I'm still surprised Game Freak decided to make these full-blown sequels to Black/White instead of the same old "third version" crap they've been doing for the past four generations. This is definitely a positive step forward in the series. That being said, I doubt there will be enough changes to justify the existence of these games. I guess we'll have to wait and see. >.>
Was that a trailer for the 37th pokemon movie near the end? Looks good... but I've still yet to watch Pokemon 4 to 36 so I think I'll give it a miss.
@ arkane9- I think you answered your own question. They do make Pokemon games that ditch the standard Pokemon structure and premise, like Conquest. They also make standard Pokemon games for people that love that structure and premise.

Stupid mobile device... anyway, I think I will be picking this up--while I'd prefer new pokemon,I like that they're reintegrating older mons into the main dex. I tend to use only the pokemon available to me in the story in each game, so having a new batch to build teams with will be nice. Plus there will probably be new more difficult trainer battles, a battle frontier, MP rebalances, move tutors, and new learnsets, so I think the games will have enough content to justify their existence.

Yeah, I guess you are right, but I would like to see them experiment more with setting and story in the main series while keeping the core gameplay mechanics. I should have specified that. If there was one thing I liked about Colosseum, it was that it had the traditional battles but introduced a new premise: being a former criminal, fighting the organization you just betrayed which tries to gain power by corrupting Pokemon. And while the spin-off games does experiment, I usually find the gameplay in them lackluster. Fortunately Conquest's gameplay looks fun. I guess I'm hard to please :p

I feel there is enough here for a justified sequel. Plus, I'm actually excited. An entirely new story and some of my absolute favourite pokémon joining the region, and new areas? Heck yeah.
This a news story or a Tumblr post? No offense Jonathan but not every fan of the series has the exact same interests as you do. I'm all for bringing up some valid questions on whether or not this release justifies a purchase if you already have B/W, but the way you insert yourself into the post makes this sound like a Facebook update. Not exactly what I come to Destructoid for. Just sayin'.
@ donuts- Last time I got Black and White while I was in Japan, and that really helped me to get the review of the western release done in time.

I need to know if they made changes to the battle subway. there needs to be more choices like the battle frontier. I just got bored with it, i didn't feel like slogging through that boring subway anymore for the paltry bp you get. Battle factory/castle 4eva.
Its a pretty good point about no new stuff to collect besides a couple of legendaries, and its the main reason Im not too excited about B/W2. I mean I might still get it but it doesnt interest me nearly as much as a new generation would.

Black and White were a big step in the story department for Pokemon, so I think this will only make things even better in that regard, and that's enough for me.

I buy all the main Pokemon games so I'll definitely buy this day one. I'm glad they're doing something a little different than putting out the standard third version. My excitement level isn't as high as Pokemon Black/White, but a direct sequel has not been done before so I'm hyped.

I must be one of the few who buy Pokemon games for the exploring purposes; I just love looking at the new "world" with the new towns and whatnot, so I just get enough pokemon to get by and go off to explore.

About more new pokemon... don't we have enough already? How many more different combinations of pokemon do we need? I shudder to think when the time comes when we have 2000+ pokemon...

@Laus: Me too. Fucking love and miss raccoons. Grew up in the mountains...wait, maybe not miss them now that I think about it. They are shits. But cute shits.
All the excitement I had for a direct Pokemon sequel is gone. It's the same region, with different trainers, a different N guy, and two different legendaries.
I don't think Holmes should review this game. He might give it a biased score based on his need for new pokemon. Also, Holmes, you shouldn't expect new pokemon to be added in the middle of a generation. It's your choice to dislike a Pokemon sequel for that reason, but at the very least, don't review this game and mark down the score because they didn't add any new pokemon and then wonder why they failed to do so.
