When Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby arrive on the 3DS as remakes of Sapphire and Ruby from the GBA era, they'll be bringing along the contemporary refreshments we take for granted today -- like online play.

But it'll also arrive with a revamped returning feature -- Secret Base. It's basically a personal room for your Pokemon trainer that lets you create your own gym, set up traps for people who wander in, or create a custom decorative area. You can visit each other's creations by way of StreetPass or QR codes, which unlock new decorations or mechanics like faster egg hatching.

Yep, sounds amazing with the enhancements.

All of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire's gym leaders have giant eyes now

The one thing that irked me about Pokemon X and Y was the 2D art, which seemed to shy away from the series' trademark look to a more homogenized anime blob style. Brawly's re-design has to b the worst. He wears those creepy toe shoes.  Compare for yourself below.more

I'm pumped to dress up Pikachu like a little fancy man

One of my favorite parts of Pokémon Black & White was the ability to haze your magical pets by dressing them up and having them perform musical theatre, so putting Pikachu in drag in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby sounds awesome to me. If you want to watch the full Pokémon trailer in all its awkwardly-paced Nintendo-approved sterile family-friendly glory, here it is.more

Ruby and Sapphire remakes feature powered up 'Primal' legendaries

I liked Pokemon X/Y, but I wasn't crazy about Mega Evolutions, most of which followed the design principle of "more muscles/horns/whatever means stronger and better." They're just a little tacky. Pokemon always did prett...more
