Charlie Day is the saving grace of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
RetroforceGO! might complain that we ripped off their theme for this week's episode, but I say they ripped off our day to record. It all evens out.
Anyway, yeah: this has been a slow-ass week in gaming news, so Podtoid is running on 100% listener questions tonight. Tiff is out, replaced tonight by Samit Sarkar, who is notably less fun to mock and insult when he tries to make a point.
As always, the best question (or the question which provokes the best discussion) will net the person who asked it $25. Since we're going to be reading way more questions than usual, your chances of winning the cash have never been better!
Ask about whatever you want, so long as it's videogame-related: there's no set theme of discussion, though the sonnet topic is, of course, BonerQuest.
Get to askin', faithful listeners. We record at 8 pm PDT, so anything before then is fair game.
But seriously, do you think Nintendo is going to try and make another "revolutionary" system now that miyamoto has supposedly finished every idea that originally had for the wii? Or will they just make a more powerful console that will run true HD games, and actually make an online service that actually works? Or do you think they are doing something else altogether? I am very interested on your thoughts of the matter.
For some very prime slabs of cunt
Or fleshy places moist and tight
Tying up any character that puts up a fight
Its innovative controls don’t use the left stick
Freeing up a hand to play with your dick
Your first quest is to show a puppy some love
Perhaps fisting it with a power glove
Then close your eyes and quench your breath
As anal bleeding lead to the poor dogs death
Achievement unlocked; 150 points in sum
You filled a bath with putrid cum
The boss battle over a reward is due
That fridgid bitch of a princess needs a real hard screw
Yet one thought you can not let go
This game would have been better with caracters of lego
Why is Braid so kickass?
And nobody listens to the Podcastle who did it first.
Why do you hate English people so much?
Actual question:
Opinions on Mr. Dtoid being taken out of EC. Does The fact there is now less content make it better?
Tell Jim why you hate the English so much. You fucking Racist.
Also, Jim, are you sad I wont be dyeing my hair blue and getting my face painted like Sonic the hedgehog with you on Sunday? You know what the problem is. It's that American's hate me and stole my money under the RACIST guise of PAX.
The P stands for Racism. You racist cunted cunts.
If you could be killed by one fiction, and, oh I don't know, videogame related illness or viral infection, what would it be?
Rabid fanboyism for me.
I will go with NBA JAM T.E.
He's on FIRE!
What do you guys think about the whole "It's Pirates' Fault!" argument that increasing PC developers bring up when their game sales doesn't meet their expectations?
More and more companies are opting for invasive copy protection, some outright ridiculous (such as those copy protection rumors for Spore about how you can only install the game 3 times). This seems to punish the honest customer more than pirate, as chances are the protection gets broken within a week anyways.
Meanwhile we have companies like Stardock who put NO copy protection at all on their PC games, yet they end up within the top sales charts for months (as was the case with Sins of a Solar Empire).
Sure piracy is bad and I do not support it, but the above seems to suggest that it really isn't the "plague that kill PC games". After all, it is the closest thing to renting that the PC platform has. Many people on the internet that pirated games every now and then do it to games they wouldn't have bought or played anyways, but wanted to see if it was worth their time.
Alternatively my question is
With XBLA games getting priced more than the usual amount recently (ala Braid and perhaps Castle Crashers) do you think that MS will continue to put out shitty games or will they push for better content so they can sell them at higher prices?
From a sales point of view, that would be a good move but are MS really thinking about that or do they just want the most comprehensive list of crap (with a few good things here and there) on the planet?
My question is we are seeing with games like GTA IV and Halo 3 rivaling major blockbluster releases, what is the next step in making games on par with other mediums in terms of respect. What would in your mind be the best type of game to jumpstart such a shift in perspective on games?
Piracy on PC games: Is it really killing PC gaming, or is it used simply as a scapegoat for poor sales? Many developers option out of PC gaming due to it, and also put invasion copy protection on games as well that end up punishing the honest customer.
Yet, companies like Stardock who have had no copy protection on their games dominated sales charts when they were released.
Also, why has no one thought of a better name than Xbox 720? Seriously, it's just terrible.
Also, do any of you have any favorite baddies that have left their mark on you?
I can't stand completing a game and sitting through the credits patiently just to get "GAME OVER" or even worse "THE END" where you can't do anything but reset your console.
What is the proper way to respond to a review you disagree with? If it's a matter of a game getting a point or two less then you would have given it, then there is no point in getting all hot and botherd about it, but what if a game you rather liked gets an awful score like say a 1; what's the polite way to express you're puzzled disagreement with the review while still showing you're respect for the reviewer's opinion? The strategy of swearing and accusing the reviewer of a fanboy doesn't seem like the best course of action, so how do you guys recommend someone shows thier polite disagreement. Or is it out of line to respond unfavorably at all? Any thoughts?
What sort of HUD is good HUD in a game? Has any game got it right, or got it absolutely wrong.
Or.
What is the worst celebrity-endorsed game you have seen.
I'm going with Chegger's Party Quiz. Fucking Keith Chegwin.
Question #2: Recently, I wrote up a blog on the economy today and whether or not the credit crunch would keep people from spending as much on games. Specifically, I chose to focus on new gamers, as core gamers like you and I are reliable customers. Do you guys think economic hardships will result in a decrease of consumer gaming sales? Could they result in an increase as cheaper "casual" titles hit the market, with people perhaps seeking refuge in other worlds to take away their worries? Will smaller companies find funding harder to come by and thus have to cut back projects, close down or be eaten by the juggernauts of the industry?
Question #3: Do you mind Braid being priced at 1200 Microsoft Dollars? Is it simply gouging the customer, or have we been underpaying for games we would shell $50 if they came on a disc?
Explain this picture of you.
I have nothing else to add.
In reading the reviews and discussions out on Eternity's Child, there seem to be so many people, especially Luc himself, who basically want to be given slack on the justification that a patch is supposed to be coming to fix whatever problem there is.
As has been stated many times, it is obvious that this game needed alot more work and in looking at the discussions on the Steam forums for the game, the type of changes that are due to be implemented in these upcoming patches are game-changing elements that really should have been implemented in some alpha phase.
So my question is, why is it that so many are giving Eternity's Child some slack for being incomplete on launch? I just feel that this is out of some pity for the fact that the subject is an indie game made by an indie developer. If Metal Gear Solid 4 had shipped out in a broken form, no one would have held back their 1/10 punches even if Hideo Kojima himself were on some YouTube video begging on his knees for us to reserve judgement until a patch comes out.
What is happening now with Eternity's Child and the amount of people on other sites hitching a ride on the Luc pity train is exactly what worries me about the latest fascination with indie developers. I have no problem with indie developers. I just worry that in the desire to encourage them, some reviewers will see fit to grade their work by less stringent standards, which I do not agree with.
a) A white, like a Riesling or Pinot Gris
b) A rosé
c) A red, such as a Cabernet?
d) Braid tastes good with all of the above.
I'd like to know your thoughts.
Personally I hate FPS games on consoles as I feel like the controls are shit, Corruption gives me hope for games like The Conduit, but on the whole I prefer PC mouse and keyboard controls every time.
Also: Apple or Oranges?
"Retro-gamers like Dyson make me sick. If I ever see Dyson again I'm gonna ram his SNES up his cunt!"
He said 'cunt', therefore Jim MUST have said it.""
Ha ha! I won't tell you what he says to me when we're alone ;)
There are so many instances where a game developer has taken on naysayers and critics about their games (whether they're released yet or not) and it usually has ended in a internet shitstorm of epic proportions.
*Cough* Eternity's Child *Cough*
So with this in mind, do you personally think it's better for game developers to get involved with the public who criticize their games or should they just take notes and keep their mouths shut?
Also, what ever happened to that rumored "big FF7 announcement" that was suppose to drop at that Square...party...thing? I'll be pissed if that the FF13 demo being packed with the Advent Children Blu-ray was it.
Ummm....ah, i got nothing else...
Also with all these games like Final Fantasy 13 that are now going to the 360 is there any hope for exclusive games any more and more importantly is there a point to having both a PS3 and a 360 anymore?
When I read about how the VP of Besthesda said that Fallout 3 will be better than Oblivion it got me thinking what is your guys think when developers do that. They basically shit on their old games to say that their new game is the best?
