Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Tonight, Aaron Linde, Jim Sterling, Topher Cantler and I will talk about some stuff that isn't related to Valve (like the PETA Cooking Mama parody), but mostly stuff that is related to Valve (like Left 4 Dead).

We would, as always, appreciate any and all regular questions, Der Sïëgëlpüntz™, and BonerQuestions™ you have for us. As always, the person who asks the best question will win some neat swag.

Anyway, hit the jump and get to askin' and puntzin' and bonerquestin'.

Left 4 Dead questions:
How awesome is Valve for making a PC shooter with split screen support(if you don't know how to, then [url=http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=745113&highlight=split]here's a link to instructions on how to[/url)?

Do you feel that Valve left the split screen code in the PC version because they really plan to patch it officially in, or did they know their PC user base well enough to predict that they would eventually be able to get it working themselves(like in the link above)?

nothing to do with valve...

Am i the only one who thought Marcus was going to come from behind and chainsaw Dom's wife?

Wouldn't that have just made the scene?

BonerQuestion:

Will Bonerquest live up to the hype? Or will it be like Fable and that it promised all these cool features and then delivers a fun game that only lasts one evening.

I'm guessing it will be the genre defying game Aron Linde proposed.

Oh one other thing, he is a hard guy to contact. I can't find his e-mail anywhere and I doubt he even logs in to Destructoid to check private messages. I found some blog that seems to be his personal site, I think, but he's a tough dude to contact. Bonerquest related information.

Also your Bonerupdate for this week. Bonerquest is coming along and nearly complete. Testing will begin soon and the game could be out within a few weeks. How does that make Linde feel?

Valve makes seems to almost break even on the multiplayer vs single player. Even making games that have awesome parts of both. which in you guys opinion is better. Also Jim Sterling has just become the best british-american by default just for moving over here. it would awesome to meet you and discuss awesomeness. Perhaps over drinks *wink*. (heterosexuality for the win.)

Valve is well known for being a corporation that strongly supports the "modding" community; Counter-Strike, Team Fortress and Day of Defeat were all mods, and Turtle Rock was well known for developing new maps and versions for Counter-Strike. Do you think this community outreach model is a good path for a developer to take to get original content (rather than using in-house development)?

How is the economy affecting you guys as gamers? Have you had to cut back on the amount of games you buy? Also, are you setting aside money for future games just in case?

Don't remember if it was already asked, if so sorry.

Does Aaron prefer the music for Bonerquest to be composed by Nobuo Uematsu, Koichi Sugiyama, or Koji Kondo?

What is your most memorable "gamer douchebag" moment on Xbox Live? (or any equivalent online service)

Also, for your new BonerQuestions© segment, will "Boner Quest© 3: The Reckoning©" feature RPG elements, like the ability to collect some form of experience to exchange for modifying your Boner in terms of width, length, shape, or maybe even CirCumpherance©?

Is it just me or is the Wii the platform with the least of it's potential tapped by companies like Valve? Think of it. The machine was made perfectly for FPS. Don't give me shit about graphical processing power or market demographic. If High-Voltage can do The Conduit and Metroid Prime 3 can be everything the control scheme promises why are we not seeing Counter-Strike Wii? A quality Valve title on a machine with such a large install base in both casual and hardcore gamer's homes would print money. I mean, it even lacks the voice chat function most of Steam's D-bags use to ruin the experience.

BonerQuestions™:

As BonerQuest's release date may be far away, are you guys worried that another game might come out before it and copy its intended features ?
What will you do if game by the name PHALLUS UNDISCOVERY comes out ?

Who bought the original Half-Life for 98 cents and does it hold up to you guys?
Can someone justify the price of L4D in relation to TF2? I'm I safe assuming that it will have continued support a-la new weapons or levels or maybe even a new survior or infected?

Bonerquestion:

Will there be a Gentleman Dinosaur mini-game in Bonerquest where instead of pooping in a bowler hat you have sex with dinosaurs?

Speaking of which, here is a snippet from the long canceled Gentleman Dinosaur text adventure game for nostalgia. I believe a reading by Mr. Sterling would be fitting:

"You are in your grand mansion located on the Edwind volcano, the volcano of your ancestors and great grandfather who was the wealthiest man on Earth (he tragically committed suicide after World war two didn’t go his way). You and your dinosaur counterparts, have gowned yourselves in your best velvet robes and bowlers hats while watching the stock tickers.

You just made $500,000,000 off of Childrapefest inc. and think it is time to rest your rich and weary mind. You adjust your monocle, only to take it off and slide it in your front pocket. Your scaly hands stroke your groomed gentlemen’s mustache as you ponder where to keep all the money while smoking your finest gentlemen pipe.

You feel a pressure in your rich, tiny rectum."

I think that Valve has opened up the game development community and really have a handle on controlling the amount of awesome that flows into each release. The naritive elements of the game wrench the liquids from the tear ducts of the plumbers that...ok I'm done:)

Nobody is a lazy bum at Value everybody has many diffrent tasks.

Many employees do several things in the development process of the game, do you think this allows the game to have more 'heart' and 'soul' as opposed to larger less communital gamedev teams?

Is Left 4 Dead just awesome or is it fucking awesome?

Serious question, should games try and cut down on the "open-worldness" that they strive for?

I mean, I remember playing the old Super Mario Bros. and I had a blast while it still being linear, yet so many other games are trying for the "open-word" approach, and most of them suck. Is this "open-world" a fad or is it here to stay?

And what kind of game do you prefer, linear, open, or a mix of both?

Boner Quest Questions:

Will there be a condom pick-up for use as a temporary shield?

Will there be a berserk mode where, after expending all of your this power, you need to rest for 15 to 20 minutes before playing again?

How many cave levels will there be?

question added to Mr. Fwankie's comment about berserk mode

Will you be able to have someone fix you a sandwich when finished with berserk mode?

Will there be other characters who join the 'Erector' on his BonerQuest?

Will the healer be a fluffer?

[BonerQuest is obviously about a man who is on a quest. Of course, he already has a prodigious erection which he uses as a weapon, but he needs to increase the power and mass of his mighty phallus so he can fuck the shit out of the Final Orifice and save the universe.]

With the undoubted success of Boner Quest, will the franchise be considered for spin-offs in the similar vein(y) as Mario games? Some suggestions:
-To capitalize on the music game trend: Cock Band
-A game to appeal to racing fans: Boner Quest: Rough Riders
-A must for any flourishing franchise, a fighting game: Boner Quest: Cock Fight
-A Mario party type game: Boner Quest: Orgy
-and lastly, an MMORPG: Boner Quest: Huge Orgy

Just trying to help.

If Valve had tried to make L4D a linear story, would it have lowered its overall appeal?
